Although, the democraps are significantly to blame, as much as GW and the GOP.

Do you think they are really looking to make significant cuts? I thought Coburn's plan was pretty good, but peeps had a shit-fit that it went too far.

Considering that a decent portion of the deficit came from borrowing money to fund supply-side tax cuts there is no logical reason why the working class should have to pay for it all, seeing as they didn't gain from it. the multinationals also benefit substantially from from the wars in the middle east, so technically they "should" have to pay for the majority but in our reality that would never happen. taxes need to be raised on capital for a variety of reasons and this is just one of them.

Looks like Norquist is giving them an out...

An end to Bush-era tax cuts near? - CNN.com

This should allow them to get down to business. I can't believe they folded, though. They probably already have a deal and are just orchestrating some theatrics for the tea party knuckleheads.

I'm wondering how allowing someone's taxes to go from 30% to 33% isn't technically a tax increase. Actually, that specifically is a tax increase.

technically yes but when compared to historical rates it's not. the pussy as dems never should have allowed capital to get a tax break every time labor did. those fuckers are spineless!

Govt spent $19,700 per person last year. Each person's share of the national debt (every man woman and child), its $49,695. So a family of 3 would be about $150k.

Its out of control, has been for a long time.

everyone forgets to adjust for inflation and in the US it's steady and constant for a reason. the US spends the least amount of money on social protections as a percentage of GDP as compared to ALL OTHER OECD countries. Our military budget is more than that of all of our combined allies together. our population is the largest behind 1 or 2 other countries and the US gov ranks ave in terms of effeciency as compared to the other OECD countries. this is what all the reports and data shows. the bs that ideologues recite on tv isn't based on empirical data. part of that number that you stated is because of health care. the US is the only OECD country with a for-profit system, this is why we spend so much. United Health and the rest has to pay their CEOs billions every couple of years.
