Put me in charge . . .
Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash
for
Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans,
blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want
steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.
Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women
Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test
recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and
piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get
tats and piercings, then get a job.
Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks?
You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your
"home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be
inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your
own place.
In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or
you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of
trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We
will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo
and speakers and put that money toward the common good.
Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of
the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before
you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem,"
consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for
doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.
If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least
attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system
rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.
AND While you are on Govt subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is
correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will
voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Govt
welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.
I did not pen this but I do agree!
Jagbender's battle of the bulge
The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living

This was in the Waco Tribune Herald in Waco , TX on 11/18/10, that's what I was told, but have not confirmed it to be true.
I never find the time to find another place,
I'm a bad motherfucker who lives it every day.
You never look at me now, you never look me in the face.
I'm a timebomb yeah
Sir, Yes, Sir!
But when you said, Ding Dongs and Ho Ho's, I thought you were talking about actual people!
The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

All sounds good to me.

Because everyone on welfare and living in gov. housing is unemployed and only sits at home doing nothing. It doesn't go to the single mother who works during the day and goes to Nursing school at night, or the veteran who gave his legs and mind for our country, the father of three whose wife died of cancer and now he has to support his kids and keep a roof over there heads after being a factory worker for 20 years and suddenly laid off.....
The sad welfare in this nation is corporate welfare and subsidizing industries like oil.... They can't make enough money selling the most addictive substance on the planet?fuck that........
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

65% of Americans receive some type of "assistance" from the Government. there is no difference between receiving aid in the form of food stamps than that of tax deductions like the EITC.
The document that I attached shows the effects that low wages have on the bottom 2 income quintiles inregards to money transfers, etc. from the government to the individual.
also
look at the middle quintile and you see the increase in cash transfers from '79 to when the data set ends in '07.
neo-liberalism blows anyone that champions for this economic ideology that isn't worth a 100M or greater is basically challenged in terms of their economic literacy.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
That goes too far and there are as always too many exceptions to the rules. Is the spirit of that on point, yes. I do believe that if you are on unemployment insurance you should work for the state you receive it from 3 days a week and have 2 to look for jobs and interview per week. If you are getting money, you should sure as shit work for it. Put someone in a position where they find out what real hard work is, it will be a strong motivator. The unemployment insurance past 30 or 40 weeks is ridiculous, people on it for 80-90 weeks is so stupid it makes my head spin. Yes there is a shortage of jobs but how many illegals do we have doing work someone else can do who is legal and pays taxes? Sure it may be a shit job like dish washing and mowing lawns but it is work nonetheless. Radical change has to happen or the status quo will continue and nothing will change.

the average length of unemployment today is 9 months. the "old" standard decades ago used to be 1 month of job searching for every 10K in income but that no longer applies. depending on what type of job was lost it could take years for a person to be re-trained if it was a white collar job and how many people have the cash reserves to do that? taking out loans for education is a crap shoot today for middle class americans. students of parents in the "capital class" don't have this problem and there is usually a job waiting for them upon graduation from family or friends, etc.
service sector jobs are not usually stepping stones to anything greater except from sales worker > shift leader > manager, etc. there is no formal training involved so the skills learned are usually not carried over to other sectors. I graduated at the top of my class and had problems gaining employment back in the late 80's and the US has been bleeding jobs for decades so it is no easier today. I was talking to one of the ex gfs in PA the other day and she told me that her son graduated from Ship in Dec '10 and he has not ben able to find employment, he's looking into the puddle pirates (coast guard).
each recession things get worst and worst...the recession of 2001 under GWB was jobless as is the current one under Obama, as will the next one. there is no reason for this cycle to end not when using the same economic methodologies that created the problem. when Obama took office in Nov '09 the unemployment rate was 9% just like today, the workforce population increases at like 175K a month.
the impact of illegals in the service sector market is VERY overstated. even when construction was high the majority of illegals in terms of mexicans was concentrated on the west coast and select cities on the east coast. back in PA where I'm originally from a lot of my friends started landscaping business back in the mid 80's when we graduated HS. there were a lot of Ecuadorians working for my buddies so there are Latino's from all over S and Central America in the US not just mexico. some reports show a decent amount of mexicans leaving once the last downturn hit but those numbers are just hard to find from reliable unbiased sources.
they need to make the penalties harsh so employers check the status of a person that may be "questionable". also don't forget that W-2 employees don't have a say in regards to paying taxes, they are taken before you get paid so even the illegals are paying taxes at the state level.

this is fuckin aswesome 10 stars i love this lol i dont understand is why the fuck do i have to be drug tested to get a job so that my hard earned money can be given out to poor lazy drug addicts who dont have to be tested. i think everyone who applies for food stamps or welfare should be drugs tested like their on probation i dont feel my money should be given out to junkies but hey government has been fucked

Well I am not one of the 65% of Americans on some kind of assistance.
You know what? I am still paying for my house! you know why? cause I wasn't fucking greedy. I have been working since I was 14 years old. Buying small houses and fixing them up and selling them and taking that money and rolling it into anouher house.
I have no credit card debt. I still owe less than my house is worth even though It lost 60% of its value.
I pay for Insurance.
I pay taxes and SSI and that won't be there when I need it.
I have to get drug tested to have a JOB.
If I want something I save for it and buy it.
I stil have a great credit rating.
Now I am not talking to displaced workers here but I am talking to the fucking no good worthless entitlement fuckers who Fuck and Drink and do drugs all day and Drive a cadilliac with 24s' on it and fucking gold teeth. I have seen them go into WalMart and buting Shrimp with a "entitlement" card and using the shrimp for Fish bait! Steak eating blood sucking gucci wearing scum of the fucking Earth! If you don't work you don't eat!
My wife worked in a welfare health clinic years ago, And this lady was told she was pregnant. She came out the door yelling to her sister sitting in he waiting room' I got me a raise, I got me a raise!
FUCK them!

you get a mortgage interest deduction from the IRS so you are in the 65%.
the people that take advantage of welfare only account for about 4% of recipients. all this information is in the annual poverty report that the Census Bureau puts out. the majority of recipients of various aid fall in and out of poverty depending on the employment situation, inflation, costs of food & energy, etc.
not quite sure why people always focus on the few bad apples that abuse the system, this happens in just about everything. the welfare reform act of 1996 that Clinton signed into law reduced the amount of direct money transfers from the gov to the individual, this amount has not changed since once adjusted for inflation.
the "welfare" state is the DIRECT result of the low wage neo-liberal economic model.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
I was on welfare my entire childhood. My father, before my parents divorced, worked two jobs, and was going to school. We still had to live in gov. assisted living apts and received food stamps. My mother worked two jobs after the divorce, but still required assistance and food stamps. I've never met anyone "gaming" the system for foodstamps or welfare, but the news regularly tells us about welfare mothers w/ 10 kids driving a Cadillac to her gov. apt.
G.E. pays zero taxes and receives massive subsidy, but some poor person trading foodstamps for liquor some how draws the vitriol of the entire community. Go figure
May the plop be on you.

US tv programing is designed to re-in-force social darwinism which greatly aids the neo-liberal agenda since this is the main source of info for americans. the roots of social darwinism are in the UK/Europe from like the 1800's but were re-invented in the US during the 70's. this provides plenty of fuel to feed the "anglos" are better than "them" mentality. this places the blame on the individual for being "poor" vs the obviously flawed low wage neo-liberal economic model and other systemic employment problems in the US. the IMF consistently states in it's reports to developing nations to "not" follow the US labor model and to go with other options which are either significantly higher labor unionization rates and/or to base the minimum wage closer to that off the median income
the economically poor have no power, they never have in history at any time in any country. those with vast wealth have all the power, they always have and this is what history and data tells us. they are the ones that cause all the problems, always have and always will.
economists from the FRB (and globally) are always writing papers on this topic (low wages for minorities in the US) but you never hear about them.

I am so with you on this. I have busted my ass for years for everything I/we have. I loth lazy, entitled people. Min. wage suck, but I stated, shoot making 1/2 that because I was a food server, but I had to start some where, and after years of hard work and sacrifice, it's paid off. I could go on and on about this, but i know way too many people in my life with this exact mindset and it sickens me.![]()
