Raging Bull is probably the best overall sports film of all time because it transcends the genre. The original Rocky film was also exceptional.

my favorite is The Program......i was fortunate enough to see the original before Disney removed the scene where they were planking in the middle of the road (some kid in real life copied it and got run over and his family sued)

I saw The Program in the theater. I don't remember that scene though. Of course that was close to 20 years ago. Great movie.
The Program is probably my fav as well. I'll go with:

Some good movis there. How 'bout Bull Durham, Hoosiers.
Even though it's not a sports movie, The wrestler was good, too.
Those Rocky movies still make me wanna train, everytime I watch them.The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.
