Amy Winehouse was asked by The Daily Mail on August 3, 2007 how she writes songs. Said Winehouse: "With 'Rehab' I was walking down the street with Mark Ronson, who produced my last album. I just sang the hook out loud. It was quite silly really." She was then asked, "Did you sing the 'no no no' bit as well?'" "Yeah, I sang the whole line exactly as it turned out on the record! Mark laughed and asked me who wrote it because he liked it. I told him that I'd just made it up but that it was true and he encouraged me to turn it into a song, which took me 5 minutes. It wasn't hard. It was about what my old management company (run by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller) wanted me to do."

So Amy Winehouse was an addict because she was underpaid?

Googled something like "what is the cause of alcoholism and drug abuse in the poor" and was directed to this URL:

    Alcohol Addiction, consequences, health effects

my comment was in response to the typical "pick on the poor" response by the the brainwashed rish_2003 in regards to addiction. as their are always multiple causes for addiction and most problems in general the impoverished have less resources to get treatment or health coverage to address underlying mental health components.

    Speaking of irony.

Have you ever had a real substance addiction? If you have you would see the flaws in your comment.

I know that in order to truly judge somebody you'd need to have walked a lifetime in their shoes. Thats why I don't judge people.

(I'm basing this on all of you other comments regarding this topic too and not just the one I've quoted)

So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

I have no sympathy for morons that delve into drugs and then fuck up their lives. Fucking, zero.

It's not like they started a flower garden and it somehow ended tragically. They were taking a drugs. And I'm not talking about minor stuff like pot. There and tens of thousands of examples of how drugs can fuck you up.

It's like someone deciding to gargle razorblades and then ends up, literally, cutting their own throat. It was stupid to start with and not a surprise.

Addiction is a disease and there is a cure. Abstinence. After that crucial first step each addict must find out for themselves why exactly they found the need to abuse substances. Getting clean is easy. Staying clean is a real challenge. People can blame and hate all they want, but none of it matters in the end. Until the addict or alcoholic accepts that they can't live like normal people, and that they have to understand that they are different. It's a bit like being allergic. An allergy shared by tens of millions of people worldwide.

    Is it really a disease?

I think it's more likely that it's just the trend of the last 25 years of so of saying nothing is ever a person's fault.

Addiction is a disease. Obesity is a disease. Everything is a disease and nothing is your fault. Well, so long as it's not something too bad.

Do you think they're ever going to call spousal abuse a disease? Murder? Paedophilia?

People need to own up to the shit they do.

It is a disease. It is the accepted medical opinion, and for good reason. You have the right to disagree all you want, and it is not worth my time to debate.

I was just reading about the funeral. One of the great tragedies of addiction is the cost to the family and friends. It is a family disease as well, and the loved ones often need treatment just as much as the addict/alcoholic. Dysfunction often has a way of spreading throughout the family, and one of the real obstacles that needs to be faced in treatment and afterwords is the negative effect of their disease on others. In fact "owning up to their shit" is a big part of recovery, and a process every successful addict or alcoholic goes through.

I am all too familiar with addiction and self medication. I will go no further than that in explanation. there are no flaws in my comment. it was an ironic statement, and i pointed it out. Your statement on the other hand is not ironic at all.

You judge people all the time. Saying you don't is just not realistic. every single day we have to make judgement calls on how reliable we think someone is, or how trustworthy. I'm not going to go into a discussion on the meaning of scripture. not in this thread, and not with someone who is choosing to use it incorrectly. even you are smart enough to understand the application of that verse.
