Ron Paul is the man. People who have no clue what he is all about should google his name and watch some of his interviews. He is to realistic to make office though. He is on target!

Thanks minimal. Ron Paul often hits it right on the head.

This. And, yes, thanks, minimal for posting that video.

Still, Paul is suggesting an incredibly tall order. What, he lists 20 or so different suggestions to turn things around? Like even a fraction of those recommendations has even a snowball's chance in hell of being acted upon.

that is one of the main things the send me bad signals about the guy. we all know he can not abolish the Fed among others on the list so why would he even try to sell that bs.

also some of the things he says are just not true, such as the founding fathers being libertarians, that is complete BS. the were just as divided back then as they are today depending on what party of Europe they came from. some wanted the state to intervene minimally, the laze-faire capitalist and others wanted the gov to regulate at the minimal level. you have to take the human condition into account and many humans are greedy and others want power and the ability to suppress those not like them and this is the way people have always been.

the current deficit was designed by the GOP so they could come and and "solve" the problem they created with a radical agenda. if not for the middle-east wars and bush tax cuts this problem would not exist. the anti-government rehtroic by the GOP is not in the best interests of those not extremely wealthy. government is the buffer between public and private business, reduce the public ownership and size of government and by default private increases it's power. the fed government is the largest employer in the US, reduce it's size and the labor pool simply increases in the service sector further suppressing wages and the GDP. Speaking of GDP over the past 30 years health-care costs have gone from one of the lowest expenses to the highest currently it accounts for a major part of our GDP and almost 20% of personal consumption expenses. increasing costs and stagnant wages once again cause a sustainability problem.

wages in the service sector are paying $8-$14 on average for non-management, shift supervisor, positions. once adjusted for inflation this is about $3-$5 in the 1980 dollar. you can only consume but so much on these types of wages and there is a limit as to how many people can be employed in the service sector.

now add in double digit inflation when the days of the dollar hedge-money finally come to an end and high interest rates like the 70's on top of that. who is going to be able to buy a car or home on $14/hr at 25% interest and gas is $9 a gallon?

the far right ideology totally dismisses 30 years of economic data in the US. reducing taxes does not create jobs, it never has in US history and there is no data to support those statements. and the welfare state was created by low paying jobs and has been made worst with rising income inequality and inflation.

the manufacturing jobs that have moved overseas are their for good. exporting goods is slowly fading away moving production to the target consumption area removes the cost of importing and tariffs for the most part.

I have no freaking clue how things are going to get better but one thing I do know and that is doing more of what got us to this point sure in hell isn't going to "fix" anything it will make things much, much worst.

Ron Paul is the only guy out there spewing facts and real solutions to problems. Too bad like Curt and LAM said he wouldn't have a chance in hell of getting 95% of that shit passed. Not to mention Kim Peek would take him in a charisma contest. Even still, I'm changing my party affiliation just to vote for him.

I agree with everything Mr. Paul said there.

Too bad he has no chance in winning the presidency.

I say that because the global banking system has been growing for a hundred years now in modern times. the central central banks are integral elements for allowing the development of the "capital" class just as government gave birth to the corporation none of them can function with out the other. in themselves there is nothing wrong with any of them but it is how they are utilized in the real world that ultimately matters.

the word capitalism is a good sell to those that don't really know the meaning of it and the various forms that it comes in. and quite frankly I don't trust anyone that makes blanket statements like "government" can't help you, because it can if it's designed that way. demonizing government is like saying all books and all guns are bad instead of maybe a book with a questionable topic (pro-nazi) or using a gun to commit murder.

the accumulation of capital creates quite the conundrum as we are finding out today. there are few true capitalists or free market entrepreneurs in this country most have had help via the "bad government" in one shape or form in their lifetime and now they want to take away the ability for others to utilize it as they have, is the epitome of hypocrisy.

ideologues want to reduce government to the bare essentials as stated in the Constitution and that would work if it was 1776 but it's not, it's 2011. that belief also goes against all of the real world economic data over the past 40 years. the data shows that when public ownership of business becomes private the economy declines as the focus shifts from high employment of people to high profits for the owners and low numbers of employment of people. this is why the GDP of every single OECD country has declined since adopting neo-liberal economic policies in the late 70's and 80's, this isn't even debatable. when business is allowed to grow so large that it consumes all competitors and becomes a monopoly that is the end of capitalism.

so instead of demonizing government we need to change the way it functions, because with out it there is no future.

This is the only statement there that seems questionable to me. Look at China vs Cuba. China has spent the last 25 years privatizing publicly owned businesses that were sucking up capital and producing very little. Hundreds of millions of people have been lifted out of poverty as the result. Cuban business are predominantly state-owned and the people live in dirt poor poverty. It sounds like you're suggest ing that our economy would be booming if all businesses were publicly owned. Surely not.

that's because the Castro's are dictators. but from what you wrote and from what the data at the OECD shows it's not the economic model itself but how that model is applied in the real world.

and I have never said anything about all business being publicy owned but it's obvious there needs to be a mixture of the two in the US. 30 years of economic data shows that business will always do what's best for them in this country. so to say that things would get better if all the business in the US were privatized is simply pure delusion. to dismiss decades of empirical data from independent 3rd parties would be the exact opposite of intelligence.

He really is lacking in charisma. He's like a barber. No offense to barbers, but they're not mistaken for Indiana Jones too often. They don't have a TV show named "The Iron Barber!"

He needs to hit the gym and get a better haircut. Sure, politics shouldn't be about flash and appearances, but it helped Kennedy against Nixon and I'm guessing Obama got "looks points" over his political opponents.

    Even with those ears.

A quick YouTube search reminds me that I have seen him around. He was bagging the shit out of Bill O'Reilly so he just earned more points. Good to see the US has intelligent public figures among all the puppets and the clowns.
