Three siblings who are wanted for an alleged armed bank robbery in Georgia and the attempted murder of a Florida police officer have been captured in Colorado, a law enforcement official said Wednesday.
They were taken into custody after a high-speed chase during which shots were fired, the official said. The chase ended in a crash, he said.
The suspects have been identified as Ryan Edward Dougherty, 21; sister Lee Grace E. Dougherty, 29; and half-brother Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26.
On Tuesday, a U.S. magistrate issued warrants for the siblings’ arrest in connection with a bank robbery in Valdosta, Georgia, where an AK-47 type assault rifle and an apparent machine pistol were used.
They are also suspects in the attempted murder of a Zephyrhills, Florida, police officer that took place the same day — but five hours earlier and 200 miles away. The officer wasn’t injured, though occupants in the getaway vehicle fired numerous rounds during a chase reaching up to 100 miles per hour, according to the Pasco County, Florida, Sheriff’s office.
One round went into the police vehicle’s tire, disabling the automobile, the sheriff’s office said.
Since then, the siblings have been the subject of an interstate manhunt, with their faces plastered on hundreds of digital billboards from Florida to Kentucky to Texas.

Fugitive siblings arrested after crash
Three US siblings on the run from police during a week-long crime spree have been arrested after crashing their car.
Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26 and Ryan Edward, 21, robbed a bank and started a police shootout as they tried to escape from Florida to Colorado.
The spree began on August 2, the day after Edward was convicted of a child sex offense and had allegedly texted the victim's mother: "There's a time for all of us to die".
The trio, who became known as the Dougherty gang, is charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing 20 times at a Florida police officer.

One of the injured siblings is carried away from the scene.
The siblings shot at the police as they chased them.
The FBI launched a nationwide search for the siblings.
