Coming off the success of his A Song of Ice and Fire novels and the hit HBO drama Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin's werewolf novella, The Skin Trade will receive the big screen treatment. Hit the jump to find out the details.

George Raymond Richard Martin is on fire right now. Game of Thrones is a certified television hit, with 13 Emmy nominations. A Dance with Dragons, the fifth of a planned seven novels in the epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and went on went on to be #1 on both Publisher's Weekly and USA Today Bestsellers lists. Now, GRRM is set to tackle the horror genre. Mike the Pike Productions, Inc. is set to develop The Skin Trade as a feature film.
Here's the official synopsis of the novella:

"When a string of grotesque killings begins to strike her small city, private detective Randi Wade becomes suspicious. A serial killer is taking the skin of its victims and the grisly murders remind her all too much of her own father's death almost twenty years ago. As the police hit a dead end, Randi goes on a search for answers of her own... But when a close friend suddenly becomes a target, he is forced to reveal a startling secret about himself and Randi is quickly pulled into a dark underworld where monsters exist and prey on the living."

The film will reportedly have a budget of $60-80M and will purse A-list talent for the director's chair and cast.

"It puts the lotion on its skin..."
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
