It was a creepy feeling here in Philadelphia. I was actually on the phone with a customer in Virginia when it happened. He got quiet and told me he thinks they had an earthquake. It wasn't even but two second later and my office was shaking.

I found out what things at home will shake the most: my rocker/recliner and the computer monitor. Everything else didn't budge. At first I thought a truck jumped the curb and hit the building. I realized that wasn't it when the shaking lasted longer than a few seconds.

This powerful earthquake was felt widely over the entire eastern United States. People were awakened by the shaking in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Charleston, South Carolina. Perceptible ground shaking was in the range of one to three minutes depending upon the observers location.
