    Florida dad Gary Leroy Johnson caught in video punching teen

    After refereeing a backyard fistfight lost by his son, a hulking Florida father pounded the teen-age winner to the ground in a vicious beatdown, authorities said.

    The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Gary Leroy Johnson was captured on videotape delivering a half-dozen punches to the skinny victor's face and one kick to his head during the Aug. 19 beating at the suspect's home.

    According to police, the 35-year-old Johnson agreed to act as referee in a fight between his son and the 16-year-old boy to settle a dispute.

    He "told both the boys that if they wanted to fight, he would monitor the fight and make sure it was a fair fight," an arrest affidavit stated.


    Johnson's son quit, leading to an exceptionally one-sided confrontation between the undersized teen and the father.

    The youth goes chest to chest with Johnson, who then asks, "You want to get knocked ... out by me, boy?"

    "I would like to see that," the teen replies - and the video shows Johnson complied, knocking the youth to the grass.

    Johnson's son grabbed his father around the waist to finally halt the beating. Johnson was released on $35,000 bond after his arrest for aggravated battery, child abuse and filing a false report.

    Prior to the discovery of the videotape, Johnson claimed the 16-year-old threw the first punch - and that he only hit the boy in retaliation, not when the teen was helpless on the ground.
