My Way News - Water gun fight in a park? Iran sees dark designs
Kinda sad that Iran is so nervous of outside influence over their young people that they outlaw any form of organized outing, even if it's just having fun in the park with squirt guns.
So if we allow them to squirt water on each other, Islam suffers?
Seems a little absurd to me.

Don't get me wrong, I love how every IM thread turns into a train wreck eventually, but this one never made it out of the station.

You both chime in and provide nothing of value or to further the discussion. You don't even an opinion on the matter. Can you straighten it out for me? LAM too since he's usually good at these types of discourse. What did I miss from the article?
They're having a water fight. Does that mean that they are going to oust Ahmadinejad?
If the Iranians are afraid of the people rising up against their government then wouldn't detaining young people for something as trivial as a squirt gun fight push them more towards revolting?
HYCH!

there are a lot of countries out there that don't allow more than "x" amount of people to "meet" in public, etc. the fact that this event was co-ordinated via the Internet, etc. makes the Iranian government even more against these types of things. the new government under Ahmadinejad is considered to be ultra-conservative

Right, so the fact that they were playing with water guns was moot at that point I reckon.
I guess the powers that be are afraid of an outside influence like Super Soaker handing out water pistols for fear of capitalism and democracy taking hold? Probably not, but it still seems backwards to me. Like holding on to traditions/customs that have outlived their time. An example would be having an efficient power grid and forcing people to read/live by candle light.

Ahmadinejad is pretty hard core but most theocracy's are, which coincides with the Iran republic being ultraconservative. a lot of country's on that part of the world are just very cautious about the social movements that can be created on the Internet, especially after what happened in Egypt.
I've dated a couple of persian girls they never really spoke bad Iran but I guess it would be expected if that was your home country.

The first and most natural enemy of any governing body is the people it governs. This sort of crack down on people's organisation is also happening in america. Flash mobs are increasingly being portrayed in the media as dangerous, and threatening. The only real threat is memetic exchange of radical political ideas that challenge the ruling class's largesse. Hence divide and conquer.
May the plop be on you.
Any time people gather, there is conversation and exchange of ideas. In tense political times people talk a lot about politics. I don't know enough about the tea party movement to determine how much of this "movement" is contrived, and characterised in the media. It sure smacks of astro- turfing.
May the plop be on you.
