I'm in love![]()

Her 15 minutes of fame and all she's got it a generic "be yourself" and "this world is bullshit"?
I'm so glad that she's not like the other people. You know, the other people that she thinks she's better than because she can spout out two trite blurbs.
Lame.

epic fail.
Whatever became of that broad?
I guess that just helps prove her point, yeah this world is bullshit.
The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

The problem is that she did it so very, very badly.
She could have at least quoated someone. The Dalai Lama, Jesus, Shinzen Young, or just about anyone. She also could have done it without shitting on other people who chose to spend their time thanking the people that helped them to get there.

yeah I agree with her, but her delivery and content sucked.

As I alluded to in my Netflix thread, commercials are physiological assaults on the mind.
Since my kids have stopped watching broadcasts with commercials in them, they barely ask for anything and are quite content with what they have.
Among other things, I'm raising my kids to not be consumers.

Aint that the freakin truth! More parents should follow your example, we're bombarded with subliminal msgs. on a daily basis. These are really for kids now.Well, the majority are atleast. Some aren't so subtle, I could be watching, I don't know a football game and every commercial is the same, buy beer, buy a cadillac and watch me get a dui, cause we all no how well booze and vehicles go together.

I don't know if you've seen it, but here's the thread I was referring to.

a lot of my friends that don't have a firm grasp on economics, etc. just think I'm cheap because I live very modest as compared to my income. but I just don't crave material possessions. just about every I buy has multiple functions but that is the engineer in me.
I would rather spend my money on creating memories (travel, eating out, etc.) the filling my house full of crap that really serves no purpose.
it all stems from my parents severely restricting the amount of tv that my sister and I watched as she consumes just as little as I.

I will chip in my 2 cents from my own experience. I use to crave buying things I did not need like multiple pair of shoes, shiny rims, clothes etc. I been away from the States for 2 1/2 years and that crave is gone at the same time my exposure to American propaganda has decreased greatly. I am in a better economical position then what I was in the states with less desire to purchase things that I do not need.

'Needs' and 'Wants' are not the same things. I try my best to live with only things that I need, and try not to feed my desire (or greed?) with things that I want. This is very hard habit for me to break. But atleast I am aware of it and I am working on it. Giving up TV few years ago, was a big step for me.![]()

end of the worlds as we know it, and i feel fine

Plus, it is hard to consider advice from a pop star on how important originality is. If she wasn't smoking hot like every other pop star, nobody would have anything to do with her, and the irony is she is bullshit along with the bullshit.
I like some of her music, though. Some of her songs are pretty dark.

one of the problems is that the US is very "id" based. far too many want everything now vs delaying gratification until the future when they can actual afford things. falling into the debt trap like many did in the 80's means there are several generations of children that have not learned how to save, etc. but these days a person can not even get a 2nd job, etc. to bring up the income. preventing debt is pretty much all many can do at this point.
