Southwest boots actress for 'excessive' lesbian kiss

That's the word from USA TODAY Lifeline blogger Anne Oldenburg, reporting on former The L Word actress Leisha Hailey's claim that she was thrown off a flight for kissing her girlfriend.

Reuters has more on the story, writing the complaint from Hailey surfaced "in a stream of Twitter messages on Monday … ."

"SouthwestAir endorses homophobic employees," Hailey is quoted as saying in one of her Tweets. "Since when is showing affection toward someone you love illegal? I want to know what Southwest Airlines considers a 'family.' "

Southwest, however, had a slightly different take on the incident. It says one of its attendants intervened after receiving complaints from other passengers. But, Southwest -- which supports several gay organizations -- characterized the kiss not as a simple peck, but as "excessive."

"Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender," the airline says in a statement quoted by Reuters. "The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight."

And The Associated Press adds "Hailey said the encounter between the couple and a flight attendant was recorded," indicating that there may be more to come on this story.

"Did I mention to @SouthwestAir that I have a lot of their actions recorded on audio and video? RT #boycottSouthwest #discrimination," says one of Hailey's Tweets, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For Southwest, the incident is at least the third run-in with a disgruntled celebrity customer since 2010.

Rocker Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day was booted off a Southwest flight earlier this month for saggy pants while actor Kevin Smith ran into problems last year on concerns that he could not comfortably fit into a single seat.

She was told that it was upsetting passengers and chose not to stop. Fuck her and her 1% of the population lifestyle as there were kids on the plane who don't need this bullshit explained to them. She might not be able to not crave licking the snatch, but she can control whether she makes out in a public sardine can.

This right here. Who gives a shit if they want to make out? Straight couples do it all the time. The people that were complaining about it are the same ones that see a tv show that bothers them and they keep it on, beginning to end, all the while saying shit like "I can't believe they show this on tv! Isn't this disgusting? I mean, look at this! This is sick shit! How can people watch this?" Truth of the matter is they like it and want to watch more. But they put up a front of not liking it so they themselves don't look like perverts.

Two chicks want to swap spit and/or grope each other? I'll watch. Two dudes? I'll look for the lesbians or read the book I brought or take a nap. Why? Because my neck swivels so I can look somewhere else.
