every single republican in the House voted against the job bill yesterday (American Jobs Act of 2011).

U.S. Senate: Legislation & Records Home > Votes > Roll Call Vote

"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president. That’s my single most important political goal along with every active Republican in the country."

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)

    * the tax cuts enacted by GWB have done exactly what they were designed to do, cause deficits so large it would be near impossible to pay them down with out shrinking the size of government. putting many people back to work would increase revenue to the government and they do not want that to happen. the GOP has specifically attacked "government" workers at the state level as they have high incomes, they want to force those workers into the low wage service sector.

    * But trade deals with Korea, Panama (new tax haven) & Columbia were approved yesterday . S. 681: Stop Tax Haven Abuse Act couldn't make it out of committee in 2007 thanks to Orin Hatch (R-Utah) and ranking member of the senate finance committee.

With control of the House the GOP is doing everything it can to reduce revenue to the fed gov..

it proves that none of them have any working knowledge of economics and/or they are intentionally tanking the economy. every single noble laureate or non-conservative economist in or out of the US has stated that the US needs more stimulus now and fast or the economic future outlook will go from bad to horrible.

You didn't make any point but as someone who operates on moral principle rather than consequence I don't see how there could be an acceptable range of wealth that the top 1% should control.

troubador do realize that you posted a graph showing that the stimulus did have a positive effect on employment or not?

Maroon dots are actual unemployment data
Everything in blue was created by Obama's economic team
The blue was the projected unemployment numbers if the Recovery Act was passed and if it wasn't. The Recovery Act passed and unemployment actually was even worse than their projection without the Act. The graph shows no positive effect after the Act was passed since unemployment continued to climb. Even now it is still above the 'without recovery plan' projection. I guess you didn't realize the blue was their projection but obviously 2012-2014 hasn't occurred yet.

    Ah...their "projection"....

    In other words, total fabrication/guesswork.

    From the graph...
Everything in blue was created by Obama's economic team
So it was Obama's economic team who made the projection and was wrong.

Basically what the Chart is saying. What was projected "with" and "without" a recovery plan is far better that then actual numbers.(maroon dots).

That just goes to show you that all the "Smart" "Greedy" "Eliteist" NON TAX paying. Covered my better health insurance than 98% "Joe Fucking Public" fuckers in D.C. don't have a CLUE what the econony will do or how to fix it. The only certian data is WHAT happened. NON Partisan view THEY are ALL fucking croocked as my dick!

exactly...it was "projected" but that is not the way it turned out in reality. not sure if you know this but 2007 was the first global banking collapse in world history so this is not just another normal economic "recession" cycle. Toxic assets from the US effected the entire world banking system. then you also have to factor in the economic situation before the banking collapse.

the economic expansion in the years of 2000-2007 was the weakest in about 50 years were the poverty rate increased and wages remained flat for most in the middle income quintiles and decreased for low wage earners and employment was only increasing at 0.01% annually. wage increases for many that even got them were consumed by rising healthcare and energy costs. so basically it was a lost decade with no economic improvement for almost 50% of the US labor force.

    * all of these events have a cumulative effect just as economic policy from one administration from another carries over UNLESS it is changed. there was real income growth in the 90's from Internet, tech boom, etc. when that over-investment bubble busted GWB walked into a small recession in 2001 which we never recovered from. so the fact that this recession is also jobless is logically as it is showing a pattern, and a very bad one.

    * for those that actually want to learn something this paper shows how jobs have been effected during each recession and recovery since 1984 you can jump right to page 5 it has text and graphs for the various levels of education.
