    Wow.

Maybe you guys should actually try reading some of the texts which the religions you are disputing are actually based upon.

I'm not saying go read a bible and believe everything in there.

However, every text describing human experience has some truth in it.

    Read between the lines.
If that movie was "thrown together" then there has never been a more perfect thrown together movie I've seen. and yes I know the bible isn't literal. But what you're failing to understand is that ALOT of people take the bible literally and believe it should be taken literal Therefore you are the exception. If we are using the bible as something you should base lessons off of then yes that is perfectly fine. But if we are trying to use it to prove those events as "truthful" then that is nothing short of hilarious. Can you also explain to me why the church feels the need to collect my money every sunday to build a bigger church than the one down the street? Is it a race?

If we based our morality off of the bible, the world would be a pretty atrocious place.

Slavery, incest, torture and murder would be accepted.

Luckily, modern day Christians cherry pick scripture that is moral, and disregard all the awful stuff.

    An example:
    Leviticus 20:21
If a man lies w a man as he does a woman, they shall be put to death, their blood shall be spilled.

Actually, I did see the movie years ago and thought it was pretty convincing.

My point is, don't stop there. Learn everything you can. Discover the origin of current human thought.

They love to focus on the carbon dating! I hear about it all the time. Same for petrified wood.

...This is my point exactly in what I try to do. This alone brought me to question religion in the first place. I gotta say tho you're pretty confusing. Are you just playing devil's advocate? cause you seem to be going back and forth contradicting alot of your statements. Are you trying to seperate religion from the church? cause alot of christians would say they go hand in hand. You also seem to be trying to seperate the pope from the entire religion in general and also parts of the bible. thats the funny thing about these "so called christians" these days (not referring to you but in general). they like to pick parts of the bible here and there but like ex said not others. I think its either your fully christian or not. Not "im gonna follow this psalm but not that one cause I dont agree with it." Alot of christians I know dont follow that shit down to the T as im sure they are supposed to. They wanna sleep around during the week then go to church and "wash away their sins" on sunday. it doesn't work like that. I see it that most christians wanna just be a part of it so they can get into this so called heaven. in summarization, they are just looking for a reward out of it but not looking at its core principles. agree or disagree?

Also if this is what is true, then something is seriously flawed when the church has become a business.

When you get cancer, tell the docs that you don't need treatment cause "we can convince our minds of anything."
I think the brain is really just that powerful, but there are ranges to which someone has belief. If that belief was to the furthest extent, I think they could easily slow or reverse their cancer, afterall it is just abnormal cell evolution.

I have the expectation that I will have cancer one day, no way in hell am I going to be probed and treated for it though. I am completely content with my body following the cycle of life.

I have said it before, and I will continue to say it.. when you fuck with the natural cycle of life, there is always consequences. We are making ourselves sick with the changes we make to our lives, everything seen as good today eventually turns out to have negative side effects. Probe away, just don't do it anywhere near me.
Just a girl.... Looking for muscles!!

Denial of scientific findings are common among the religious. Thanks for confirming your inability to be objective because of faith.

Actually all I'm saying is very simple.

Texts have survived around the world, where people imprinted their knowledge.

Some of these are "religious" documents.

The bible is just one example.
There's a lot of fluff and crap in there, but a lot of it is good sense.

If you think that God doesn't use science you are a fool. Where do you think that science came from? Darwin?

This a hilarious post considering that science can prove that many stories in the bible are false.
The scientific method was around long before Darwin btw. And so was the idea of evolution. Darwin merely discovered the mechanism that drives it: natural selection.

Your post demonstrates that you don't have the intellectual capacity and/or education to have a debate w me about this. Next?
