If anyone involved was white, McDonald's would already have issued an apology and be making statements about how there needs to be more race sensitivity classes.

I'm surprised as well.

The two customers haven't been judged yet, but they're up on charges of criminal trespass and some other things. Hopefully they have the book thrown at them. It would be a win for "law and order" or basic civilized behavior.

I'm no fan of petty rules, but if a shop owner can't have a store where customers stand in line respectfully? Gtfo. All those insane Walmart mobs? Inexcusable. Jumping up on the counter at a McDonald's? Absurd.

Will bet, though, that both women try to get some kind of damages from the franchise owner even if they're found guilty wrt their actions.

Oh, yeah, and the McDonald's franchise owner would have done well to stand behind its employee rather than giving him the auto-boot.

That may be true biologically, but not legally. Everything is ultimately for a jury to decide, and this jury decided that the charges could not stick. It's how our system is supposed to work, whether you love it or hate it.

No, it doesn't. Not one bit. What part of my messages aren't clear?

If she just threatened to cut him, it doesn't give him the unqualified right to beat the shit out of her.

If she pulled out a knife and threatened to stab him, then it doesn't give him the unqualified right to beat the shit out of her.

The qualification is that the force must be reasonable for your protection. Your actions must be reasonable, and reasonableness is determined afterwards by a jury.

Luckily for him, the grand jury decided that he should not face charges for this. But it could have easily gone the other way based on the reasonableness standard.
