The McDonald's cashier who used a metal rod to beat up two customers who slapped him and then jumped over the counter at the West Village location sat down for an exclusive jailhouse interview with the Daily News today.

Rayon McIntosh gave his version of events for the first time, and defended himself and the actions which may have left one woman with permanent brain damage: "I was just working at my job when I was attacked for no reason. I'm not a heartless person," he said. McIntosh said that victims Denise Darbeau and Rachel Edwards came in to the West Village McDonald's angry: "I tried to keep things calm as best I could...I was not looking for trouble. The trouble found me. People are portraying me as a vicious attacker."

The fight started when Darbeau tried to pay for their food with a $50 bill, and McIntosh wanted to check the authenticity, as was store policy. "She started saying nasty things to me," McIntosh said. "She said, 'Oh, you think my s--t is fake?' ... She started saying, 'Suck my d--k.' She called my mother a whore."

McIntosh says she then spat at him, threatened to "cut me up," came across the counter and slapped him. When Edwards jumped across too to join in, McIntosh says instinct kicked in: "I was being attacked by aggressive people I didn't know," said McIntosh. "I was just defending myself. They came in and went crazy on me." You can see the rest of the incident play out in the video below:

Congrats for that guy! That woman made the mistake of attacking the wrong person. You better know who you start fights with, or you may end up like that.

He's a McHero!!! She slapped him in the face for checking a fifty that she handed him, then he shoves her away, the other man/chick jumps the counter into his work space. He walks away, they persue, he whoops their ass!!! Some people think they can get away with anything! Animals!!

A buddy of mine is a DAL First Officer based out of TX and when he flies into ATL he refers to it as Black Mecca.

ATL is like the anti-TX. I go there and am the minority by a lot, oh how the tables are turned there for the white folk.

ATL has over twice the crime of LA.

Why the fuck is he in jail for defending himself? They came after him and he stopped the assault. Until they run back across the counter to back off, he's still exercising his right to defend himself. Or at least that's how it is in my state, the attacker has the duty to retreat before they can claim assault against anyone who inflicts bodily harm on them in self defense. They retreat...then you have to stop beating them off of you. They keep coming, you keep protecting yourself until they stop.

I'm curious about that too. Supposedly she spit in his face, slapped him, then obviously two of them come over the counter, he noticeably retreats, they keep coming so he whips that mad ass.

I'm not sure a good defense attorney couldn't get him out of this relatively unscathed.

The only thing that doesn't look good is after he he beats that ass, he pauses then beats the bitch back down as she gets up.

I'd also be curious if he can't bring McDonald's into the civil side of this for not providing him with adequate protection/security from crazy ho customers.

I guarantee you that you are grossly misinterpreting your state's law. Even if he were justified in using force initially, the force used must be reasonable. You cannot continue to beat someone after you diffuse the threat, which is what the video clearly depicts him doing.

i was just going to say that i think a lawyer could make a good argument that jumping the counter at mcdonalds shows she was brain damaged to begin with.

he should not have gotten a felony charge for that.
