Thumbs down US General fired from Afghanistan duty after saying Afghans are ungrateful

What is wrong with the people in charge? He should be promoted!

[QUOTE] A top U.S. general in Afghanistan has been canned after he made critical remarks about Afghan President Hamid Karzai, at one point calling the leader

Top U.S. Commander in Afghanistan Gen. John Allen issued a statement on Friday saying Maj. Gen. Peter Fuller has been relieved of his duties following his "inappropriate public comments."

Fuller made the off-the-cuff remarks during an interview with Politico. The No. 2 general in charge of training characterized Afghan leaders as erratic and ungrateful.

He also blasted Karzai's recent assertion that Afghanistan would side with Pakistan if war were to break out with the U.S.
"Why don't you just poke me in the eye with a needle! You've got to be kidding me," Fuller told the political website in an interview published on Thursday. "I'm sorry, we just gave you $11.6 billion and now you're telling me ‘I don't really care?'"

He also ripped Afghans who he says have made unreasonable requests for U.S. help.

"You can teach a man how to fish, or you can give them a fish," Fuller was quoted as saying. "We're giving them fish while they're learning, and they want more fish! (They say,) 'I like swordfish, how come you're giving me cod?' Guess what? Cod's on the menu today."

Allen said Fuller's remarks were not representative of the Untied States and its mission.

"The Afghan people are an honorable people, and comments such as these will not keep us from accomplishing our most critical and shared mission – bringing about a stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan," he said in the statement.

The drama comes as Obama has pledged to steadily withdraw U.S. forces in Afghanistan over the next three years.

How about "unworthy" or "sub-human"? Those are better descriptions.

Fuck them. We got Osama, we should pull out and let them kill each other off.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

Unbelievable. If we're ever in another real war, against a formidable enemy, we're fucked. If WWII were happening today, Churchill would probably be fired and Court Marshaled if he made an offensive comment about Nazis or Communists. Osama's dead, time to GTFO and let them go back to killing each other. Best thing for them and us IMO.

From what I've read, we're looking at at roughly 1.3T by the end of this year in bith Iraq and Afghanistan. This doesn't account for the 730+ military bases we have throughout the globe. If we eleminated the entire $1.3T immediately, began closing military bases outside of the mainland,we would likely wipe out the deficit immediately, as opposed to small political promises of "future cuts over the next 10 years." Which, of course are nothing more than political platitudes, used to convince the sheeple that something is actually being done.

The solutions should be clear to everyone in the Congress. The problem is, no one wants the other party to take credit for changes that might actually delivery the goods; enter the bickering and name calling bus as usual.

Iraq alone is $1 Trillion +.

    Therein lies the rub.

    No. No. No.

Do not use the word should.

I couldn't agree more! PC has gone way too far. If there is something wrong w a societies politics or religion we should be able to criticize them for it!

If you think that Muhammad flew to heaven on a winged horse or that being a martyr gets you 70 virgins, then you're just a raving lunatic who doesn't deserve respect.

Hold a sec, amigo! I've still got 18 months of 'war profiteering' to go!
    THEN we can pull out!

That was one part...I caught highlights of a briefing that states that we are now training these shit bags to stand on their own. Both military and police.
Once that's done, then we have mission accomplished.
(this is what is happening in Iraq right now)
Of course, we'll never REALLY leave this shit hole.
