Any money or effort spent in the Middle East that doesn't directly result in the death of a Muslim is a waste.Afghan prosecutors announced Wednesday that a young rape victim, jailed for adultery after reporting the crime and pushed into marrying her attacker, would have her sentence reduced from twelve to three years. The prosecutor said she would, for now, remain in jail -- with her child -- for not reporting her attack fast enough.
In a remarkable case that is all too common in Afghanistan but has drawn international attention, 21-year-old Gulnaz was attacked by a relative two years ago, but sentenced to 12 years in jail for adultery.
She has since given birth to a girl from the attack. Because of the dishonor of sex outside of wedlock, she had been given the choice of marrying her attacker to get out of jail and legitimize her infant daughter in the eyes of Afghanistan's conservative society.

Let them worry about it.
I saw this article too. Too many people are too PC to question another culture or religion when it is clearly fucked up. We can criticize someones politics with fierce language, but to criticize someone's religion or culture is off limits. How the hell did this come to be? These nutcases are whacked and their culture and religion needs to be something of the past.

You are all a bunch of islamophobic fascists! Who are we to judge another culture by our own western standards? Muslim culture makes great contributions throughout the world. Just look at what they've contributed to Europe...... Well, never mind, don't do that. Just close your eyes and ears and stop criticizing one of the world's great religions.
Anyhoo, why is the article below not at all surprising? Maybe next, N.Korea will join the UN Human Rights Committee. Y'all may recall that Muammar Gaddafi's govt was elected to chair the committee several years ago. Just show's that the committee has about as much true meaning as a nobel peace prize does these days.

Since our arrival there a lot of the barbaric practices have slowly gone away. Many of the people there just want to live a free life, as we push the Taliban further many regions change afterward. Problem is radical Muslims from all over flock there to fight and we are making the same mistakes we did in Vietnam. Instead of sending patrols out on unsecured roadways we should just shell the hell out of the roads first and send tanks first instead of flimsy humvees. We are losing too many guys to ieds. We should turn all humvees into Bigfoot trucks with Kevlar belted radials or better yet solid rubber tires....

We are not better either. We have been electing thieves to rob us and sell us for money, and the sad thing is there is no law against it. Our justice system has done more harm to us than their justice system has done more harm to them, I think.

This is true, most people just want a free life without that kind of radicalism, you can bet. But even then, I know people who've served in both Iraq and Afghanistan - they say Iraqis are in general nice relatively modern people, while Afghans are ass-backwards fucks a lot of the time. So it's not the religion, but the environment/situation they grew up in. *Medieval* Christians could be pretty nasty too. Modern muslims aren't bad at all, just the medieval-acting ones.

No, I am not defending Islam. I am just trying to make my point. I just see that our justice system is not better than their's. Our justice system has also put so many innocent people to death. So I think we are also guilty. I never said that Islam's justice system is good.

I remebered this article about an 11yo rape victim, read below.
11-year-old girl, alleged victim of Texas gang rape, blamed for attack at town hall meeting
(CBS/AP) CLEVELAND, Texas - At a town-hall meeting Thursday night supporters of the men accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl blamed the alleged victim for her own gang rape.
The meeting was called to discuss concerns some were having about the investigation, but then it turned into a forum for many to blame the girl.
Others have said earlier in the week that they were outraged by the attacks. The age of consent in Texas is 17.
Police say the girl was sexually assaulted during several attacks last year. The alleged gang rape took place at an abandoned mobile home in Cleveland, Texas, about 40 miles northeast of Houston, and police say the attack was captured on cell phone video.
The authorities have arrested 18 people, including two of Cleveland's star high school athletes and adults with criminal records. They face assault and abuse charges.

I know we are not as messed up as other countries but we do questionable things here also.
And also it is Texas..
This has to be a joke. No one could be this stupid and actually figure out how to turn on his fucking computer, let alone figure out how to sign onto a website. You fucking muslim dicksucking camel raping piece of arab shit!
Sure, our's is no better than a justice system where they'll cut off your hand for stealing, stone a guy to death for being a fag, or imprison a woman for being raped. Then again, rich people in our society have access to better lawyers, so I guess I see the moral equivilancy.

That was a few random dumb-ass people, not the authorities. You'll also notice that the authorities charged the attackers with assault and abuse.
Also:
"Supporters didn't claim that the men and boys did not have sex with the young girl; instead they blamed the girl for the way she dressed or claimed she must have lied about her age -- accusations that have drawn strong responses from those who note an 11-year-old cannot consent to sex and that it doesn't matter how she was dressed."
And finally:
"All of the defendants arrested are African-American and the girl is Hispanic."
Every society has some stupid back assward people. Fortunately, this kind of stupidity is note encoded in the legal system in western civilized society the way it is in muslim societies.

Ok how about this one, of course it happened in Texas.
Supreme Court Denies Justice To Texas Cheerleader Who Refused To Cheer Her Alleged Rapist | ThinkProgress
iamond on May 6, 2011 at 8:00 pm Earlier this week, the Supreme Court declined to review the case of a recent Texas high school student who was kicked off her school’s cheerleading squad after she refused to chant the name of a basketball player who had allegedly raped her. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, one of the most conservative courts in the country, ruled last November that the victim — who is known only as H.S. — had no right to refuse to applaud her attacker because as a cheerleader in uniform, she was an agent of the school. To add insult to injury, the Fifth Circuit dismissed her case as “frivolous” and sanctioned the girl, forcing her family to pay the school district’s $45,000 legal fees.
According to court documents, H.S. was 16 when she was raped at a house party by one of her school’s star athletes, Rakheem Bolton. Bolton was arrested, but by pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault, he received a reduced sentence of probation and community service. Bolton was allowed to return to school and resume his place on the basketball team. Four months later, H.S. was cheering with her squad at a game when Bolton lined up to take a free throw. The squad wanted to do a cheer that included his name, but H.S. refused, choosing instead to stand silently with her arms folded.
“I didn’t want to have to say his name and I didn’t want to cheer for him,” she later told reporters. “I just didn’t want to encourage anything he was doing.”
Several school officials of the “sports obsessed” small town took issue with H.S.’s silence, and ordered her to cheer for Bolton. When H.S. refused again, she was expelled from the cheerleading squad. Her family decided to sue school officials and the district. Their lawyer argued that H.S.’s right to exercise free expression had been violated and that students shouldn’t be punished for not complying with “insensitive and unreasonable directions.”
Leading legal scholars have pointed out that this case is about more than justice for one purported rape victim — it’s a civil rights issue that goes to the heart of students’ right of free speech under the First Amendment. Though it might seem obvious to most people that H.S. had every right to sit out that cheer, the lower court insisted that as a cheerleader, she was speaking for the school and as such had no right to stay silent when coaches told her to applaud her alleged rapist. The court explained in its decision:
As a cheerleader, HS served as a mouthpiece through which [the school district] could disseminate speech – namely, support for its athletic teams…This act constituted substantial interference with the work of the school because, as a cheerleader, HS was at the basketball game for the purpose of cheering, a position she undertook voluntarily. It’s unclear to many court watchers how H.S.’s silence was disruptive, or how the school’s right to “disseminate speech” through cheerleading outweighed the needs of a sexual assault victim.
The Firth Circuit has repeatedly illustrated its hostility to first amendment rights and victims seeking compensation claims. Texas too has a bad track record when it comes to high-profile rape cases. A recent case involving the gang-rape of an 11-year-old girl by at least 18 men, including several student athletes, caused national outrage after many in the community tried to blame the victim. For years Texas has forced women to pay for their own rape kits. Two months ago, the Texas House approved a bill that would require victims of rape who became pregnant to get an ultrasound and hear a description of the fetus before getting an abortion.
One reporter summed up the miscarriage of justice this way: “The Supreme Court’s refusal to hear the case is a devastating rejection of students’ rights to speak out against school officials, and a disturbing affirmation of a culture that punishes rape victims instead of perpetrators.”
This just means that our system is imperfect. Where's the moral equivilancy? I'm not a mathematician, but I'm pretty sure imperfect ≠ barbaric and depraved.Ok how about this one, of course it happened in Texas.

As I said, every society has it's own share of idiots. Here's further proof:
Our culture is not just different than their's. It is bettter. Liberal apologists need to get their heads out of their arses and admit this fact that they already know.

I do agree with all of you barbaric does not = imperfect the Muslim justice system is an insane ass backward way of doing things!! Their is no way in hell what they do is right.
However i am starting to believe that if we as a nation are not careful and vigilant about our government and justice system we just might end up like the Muslims.

didn't say you did. can't remember a time in history when citizens of a country were ever given a voice in those kinds of matters. they fed gov & the MIC will find a way to stay longer or to re-invade in the future, etc.
the US hasn't had a peace time military for any length of time in many decades. waring keeps the military combat ready with plenty of combat vets on hand, it's why the US kicks ass so easily.
