If we did stop supporting Israel, the Middle East would be a radioactive wasteland in less than two years.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

Israel would die, too. So it's a win / loss.

the stance that Ron Paul holds on many issues are common sense but they are not reality based in the year 2011. the US continues to fund Israel which is a wealthy country compared to all of the surrounded arab states, as it also keeps them in check periodically. this means the US has a strong ally in the middle east and another country to sell weapons to. and by sell I mean give to them as the US taxpayers pay for them as the reports have shown that the top DOD contractors in the US don't pay squat for federal taxes anymore.

another reason why RP will never see the inside of 1600 PA Ave unless on a tour. I give him credit for constantly trying but he's beating a dead horse. I still find it hard to believe that he is a native of my home state in PA, because nobody there shares the same views as him I guess that's why he didn't make it in politics there.

I think the US 's support of Israel goes even deeper than just another country to sell weapons to. We have to remember that the majority of our leaders have been Christian. I don't believe there is a single Christian person that would want to see Muslims take over the Holy Land. It all comes down to religion and trying to fulfill the "prophesy."

Yeah, except this third crusade ain't working out too well for us. History class - the muslims were in charge of Jerusalem for over 1000 years, and there was a huge degree of diversity and lack of ethnic conflict within the city. We invaded to "restore" the holy land from them during the crusades and ended up butchering the population and losing it to them again.

It's not about religion, it's about having a military base and foothold in the middle east.

I find it hard to believe that most of these leaders truly believe in God. how else could they rationalize killing millions of people over the years to spread democracy which we all know is nothing but the pre-cursor for capitalism since communists don't trade much. the US killed 5m in Korea alone just to prove a point, this doesn't sound like the actions of a God fearing nation.

stupidity and ignorance runs wild in the religious folks in the US. People of every religion find scriptures to support killing others.

Crusaders did it.. in the name of God too. The point im trying to make is that it all comes down to religion. Society is build upon religions. Most westerners fear Muslims because they are of different a religion. This country is build upon Christian beliefs so we are going to naturally want to oust Islam. Let's see if ill get anymore negs for this lol.

Except the US was founded by men who despised christianity. The christians just took over later. god wasn't even in the plegde of allegiance until the 1950's. It's a misconception that our founding fathers were christian.

If my memory serves me correct, it was you that posted the "companies that don't pay taxes" article on IM...and I remember seeing that most of the defense contractors who are weapon systems providers, did indeed pay taxes. Why the contradiction?

    Right...

It has nothing to do with numerous terrorist attacks or stating their goal as destroying Western civilization. All of which is based in a life-style right out of the 500s AD.

It's only because they're different. Which is why so many American hate Buddhists and Shintoism.

some of them do pay federal taxes but they also get subsidized so it's pretty much a wash.

"Religious controversies are always productive of more acrimony and irreconcilable hatreds than those which spring from any other cause.* Of all the animosities which have existed among mankind, those which are caused by the difference of sentiments in religion appear to be the most inveterate and distressing, and ought most to be depreciated.* I was in hopes that the enlightened and liberal policy, which has marked the present age, would at least have reconciled Christians of every denomination so far that we should never again see the religious disputes carried to such a pitch as to endanger the peace of society."

Well I would say that Christians are a bit more hmmmm "proactive' towards Islam because both religions are based on the same doctrine (one God etc.) Kind of like siblings fighting over who is more right.

Christians tend to be more passive towards other religion (besides islam) and only view them as being "barbaric" because it is not from the same doctrine.

RP want's to abolish federal income taxes and fund the fed gov with tax receipts from excise taxes only. this accounts for 10% of federal revenue today....

they also babble on about free markets, which no longer exist. going back to gold, good luck with that. at what rate? how to stop gold hording? when the price of gold drops wages have to adjusted down, can't see large firms adjusted their profit margins down because of that, they surely haven't in the past 30 years...you can go on and on

But here, this looks really nice with the "owned" emoticon, and should make you feel ever better about yourself.

Right, which is explains why a country the very same country helps to support Jews, who also share a doctrinal base with Christianity.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.
