Whether you support him or not between him and his wife Michelle,they sure do no how to go away,have lavish parties,spend a shit load of money as the rest of the country goes down the fucking toilet. Just sayin.

entitlement spending isn't what's causing all the debt, it's a lack of tax collection and tax giveaway's to large firms which is at 1T a year....

the stimulus plan was not big enough as was stated by all the nobel prize winning economists in 2009, it relied far too much on tax cuts. at 800b spread out over 3 years it only amounts to a 2% stimulus on a 14T annual economy, peanuts...

the majority of the "spending" is from a loss of tax revenue and increased spending on um-employment and food stamps...such horrible things

health care rammed down throats you may want to look up reconciliation and how it's used in US politics and who uses it the most.

and if you weren't another economic retard you would understand why the US economy gets worst after every recession since 1984, they are simply less jobs to go back to (mergers and acquisitions increase during recession recovery)..there are tons of studies on this topic

along with the fact that small businesses can't obtain funding...they normally provide 70% of the jobs post recession recovery due to tight credit and a lack of desire to lend by the big banks. they can make more money gambling with depositors monies on wallstreet

Perhaps Perry. He won't pick someone who's dropping in the polls because of baggage or scandals, like Cain. Probably someone who's polling well now, or someone who's fairly unknown. Bobby Jindal would be a good pick IMO.

newt will never be POTUS...speakers of the house that get kicked out for ethics violations don't get elected to the highest office...you are delusional if you think the independent electorates are going to vote for him if he wins the GOP nomination.

I still remember the speech that he gave on the house floor in '84 that was stricken from the record because he was going off on the democrats that weren't even there as the house was not in session...he got so busted on C-SPAN!

I don't like Obama, but the national debt when GWB left office on Jan 20, 2009 was $10.4 million dollars.

Teleprompters are NOT allowed during debates. You're equating speeches in which many politicians read teleprompters instead of speeches written on paper.

Dole used a teleprompter at the 1996 GOP Convention.

Teleprompter is not the issue.

Obama (IMO) does not a have a good record of doing much for the upcoming debate and Newt as a challenger will use his skills well.

As for debates, does it really matter?

Not one of the 7-8 serious problems have been acted upon in the last few decades.

One of the few big battles of Saturday’s New Hampshire presidential debate came when Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich fought over military records. Paul has been attacking Gingrich for not serving in the military while supporting potential military action in places like Iran.

Gingrich responded that he wasn’t able to be drafted because he was married with a child. However, Paul had a ready answer to that… A very cutting answer.

Paul attacked Gingrich for getting Vietnam deferments, and Gingrich tried to push back. Here’s what it sounded and looked like:

PAUL: I don’t like it when we send our kids off to fight these wars and when those individuals didn’t go themselves, and then come up and when they’re asked they say, ‘Oh I don’t think one person could have made a difference.’ I have a pet peeve that annoys me to a great deal because when I see these young men coming back my heart weeps for them.

GINGRICH: Dr Paul has a long history of saying things that are inaccurate and false. The fact is I never asked for a deferment, I was married with a child, it was never a question. My father was in fact serving in Vietnam in the Me-Kong delta at the time he’s referring to. I think I have a pretty good idea of what it’s like as a family to worry about your family getting killed. And I personally resent the kind of comments an aspersions he routinely makes without accurate information.

PAUL: I need one quick follow up: When I was drafted, I was married and had two kids. And I went.

Our compliments to the politically engaged citizen who brought a blowup of the Daily News front page of Nov. 16, 1995, to a Newt Gingrich campaign appearance at the Barley House restaurant and tavern in Concord, N.H.

There was Gingrich, again trailed by the famous image of him as a diapered, bawling, foot-stamping infant under the headline “Cry baby.”

The rest of the words pinned Gingrich for a petty, petulant episode that began his descent into a now-ended exile from electoral politics.

“Newt’s tantrum: He closed down the government because Clinton made him sit at back of plane.”

The front page devastated Gingrich 16 years ago because it was dead-on true. It haunts him today because he hasn’t changed. He’s the same old peevish, vituperative guy.

He limped into New Hampshire after plummeting to fourth place in Iowa — in no small part because Mitt Romney zapped him as “zany” and bombarded Gingrich with attack ads that reminded voters of the former House speaker’s record.

And, boy, did that get him steamed.

He let loose, saying, “Here is my simple tag line: Somebody who will lie to you to get to be President will lie to you when they are President.”

Asked on CBS, “You’re calling Mitt Romney a liar?” the reply was, “Well, you seemed shocked by it. Yes.”

And then, after Romney cleaned his clock, Gingrich whined about having weathered tough but fair ads, saying, “We are not going to go out and run nasty ads. We’re not going to go out and run 30-second gut shots.”

Clearly irked, he also asked whether Republicans want “somebody who is into changing Washington, or do we want a Massachusetts moderate who, in fact, will be pretty good at managing the decay.”

Gingrich’s 1995 outburst was brought to the front page by the late Lars-Erik Nelson, who heard the speaker spout off at a press breakfast.

As Nelson wrote that day, “Across the breakfast table, House Speaker Newt Gingrich was doing a good imitation of Capt. Queeg at the end of ‘The Caine Mutiny’ court-martial, slowly unraveling into resentment and self-pity. He was fighting liars,” — that word again — “he said. And disrespect. ‘Forget me, I’m only the speaker of the House,’ he said.”

That’s who Gingrich was then. That’s who Gingrich is now. And that’s why that front page is as effective today as it was when first published.
