I think what he meant was the control placed in where it was placed. How things will go back to how chaotic they started out to be.

I meant how long it will take for the puppet govt to collapse and the place to return to chaos. Probably won't take long. The only positive thing we accomplished was a few hundred thousand dead arabs. But, Saddam was already doing a fine job of that before we arrived. I'd be surprised if we didn't end up going back in after a few years, if we're still able to borrow the money at that time.

for that you have to go back to the early 90's and the original wolfowitz doctrine (Defense Planning Guide). It called for the removal of Saddam from power to open up Iraqi oil to US & UK and the world markets and to establish a permanent military presence in the middle east to protect US interests.

If anything, we've made things a lot worse. The only thing we've accomplish by nation buiding in Afghanistan is destabilizing Pakistan. Afghanistan isn't even a country. It's just a tribal land mass in the middle of several other countries. Iraq is also only a country on paper. Saddam was able to hold it together through a brutal mlitary dictatorship. Time will tell if the new govt will be able to hold it together.
