I agree 110%. I was self-employed for five years, but due to certain circumstances, hereafter referred to as "wife", I had to go back to work for someone else. Now I make more money, but I am miserable!!! Freedom is worth more than money.

But how good is the quality of that freedom when you dont have money??

As long as you can afford a little less money...DO IT for sure...and remember that the 7000 cut is more like 3000 cut afer taxes. Just somehting to consider to make the idea seem more intising

On a serious note go for it bro. I just pulled off the same deal, my situation is a little different as it's just part time and I'm in college, but still took a pay cut. I could stay working as a bouncer where I was really starting to hate it, or I could work a hell of a lot less at the bar, work at the college gym which would mean I actuallly work MORE hours for less pay but I love it. In the end I get about the same amount of money (again more hours) but I'm a hell of a lot happier. I say go for it

Ya, it is a lot safer. I just gotta kick some of my old habits that I got from working at the bar. My girlfriend was visiting me here at work the other day and there was a loud 'bang' from some dipshit dropping the weights and I automatically got my fists up in fighting position. Well at least she got a good laugh out of it.

if i was to have a job and earnd $70 000 a year and i was not happy and i had an offer to take a job that pays $30 000 a year and i would love my job, then i would take happiness over money.

Going with what makes you happiest is always a good choice, but that's not always so easy to determine when others are involved/affected. Hopefully your wife will be supportive.
