i never dared anything like that but dog poop, dog poop, more dog poop, ground caterpillar, ground worms, various bugs. if it wasn't Maine something might have been poisonous. i knew wild mushrooms might kill him and wasn't that stupid. he'd eat his meal hours after my brothers and i and it was always expensive, better than what we had had, and spiced up with extra care by yours truly. he was the kind of mean that'd keep you awake thinking of taking the rifle off the wall and shooting him.

now he is a huge comfort to me though. whenever i worry about my health i think, "hell if he's alive still after all that vodka and smoking i'm cool for another 50 years"
