Federal Government: Current Expenditures and Receipts 1947-2012
I found a graph the other day where someone had merged FRB data from gov spending and receipts taken in from '47-2012. I usually check these things myself before accepting them as fact.
there are a lot of discrepancies between those two graphs. Most notable for me at least is the giant gap for 2011. We seem to be missing about a trillion dollars in receipts unless i just read that wrong.
that's what happens during every recession, tax receipts decrease from workers losing jobs, etc. and large firms have plenty of ways to shift monies around to reduce their tax liabilities.
US large firms saw an increase in profits of 10% during the recession recovery, they laid off 5M us workers and reduced capital spending.
