    Child abuse?

Is feeding your kid McDonald's everyday and doing nothing about the 4 yr old being 60 pounds child abuse? Letting your child hit the blunt would most certainly be considered that, but nasty eating habits would actually be more likely to kill the child.

    Thoughts?

I'm appalled what ppl feed their kids. I just had my 1st child. She is about 8 months now. She eats like my wife and I. Healthy quality organic produce and quality cuts of meats.

I eat raw rolled oats with 2 dates for breakfast and cinnamon. When she is tad older this is what she will eat. Not a bowl of fucking sugar cereal or toaster poison shit pastry like most kids.

This whole ADHD and add epidemic is mostly diet based. Ppl don't wanna raise kids they just want to do like they do themselves ....medicate and repeat.

I'm split. Part of me thinks it should be, and the other part thinks I should beat the crap out of the parents.

it's more of an ignorance problem that has to do with a general lack of information about the short/long term effects of a diet high in heavily processed foods and the associated cravings that they instill on a person.

the average US citizen really has no idea what a healthy or unhealthy diet is.

Right, I don't know how many times I've heard people refer to chicken nuggets as an healthy fast food option.

As much as I hate to see kids overweight, the government should have no control over something like this. We don't need any more government control then we already have, especially over someones eating habits.

I do wish these parents would wake up and realize that fast food is OK in moderation, but not multiple times a week.

My mom feed me fast food when I was little. She was too depressed over her divorce to cook so it was McDonalds or pizza all the time. Obv I got fat. Not obese but def overweight for my age. Thank god I was taller than most in my grade. Well anyways, when I was about 9 I decided I was sick of being fat. I asked to join football and wrestling. By the time I was 12 I was in good shape and had dropped all that fat.

What my point is, is that we can be lead into bad habits when we're young but we can always change. Most of the big jacked dudes I'm friends with we're fat kids when they were young. Maybe it gives you extra motivation to never be like that again. That being said, my daughter will never eat that shity food on a reg basis. Yes she can have pizza sometimes and a happy meal once in awhile but if at any point I see her getting chubby, that shit is gone. And she will be in some kind of "running" sport. None of this dance class or cheerleading shit.

Eating habits are a learned behavior. Parents that do this to their kids are setting them up for failure. I too beleive it's just ignornace on the parents part.

I don't see anything wrong in feeding the kid a happy meal every now and then but every day is not good at all.

Again one of the few times we see eye to eye. Even family and friends in the healthcare industry that I discuss dieting and physical activity, not just working out, are totally clueless. Most doctors are clueless as it is not taught and the little that is is outdated.

My father ate horribly, butter and salt on anything, and ended up having a heart attack in his late 40's. By the time I was 10 I'd started being interested in body building and martial arts and read lots of books on healthy eating habits and taught myself how to eat right. Children can be capable of figuring out how to eat healthy despite theirs parents....

Where did you get your food? While what you say may be true, most kids are limited in their food choices because it's still the parents who do the grocery shopping.

feeding fast foods and slowly killing a child isn't abuse, but making them play outside and stop being lazy and stop playing video games is abuse...scratching my head at this

Unfortunatly in this day its easier and cheaper to stuff a happy meal in your kids mouth than it is to go to the market and buy healthy food and prepare it. especialy in the two parent working times that we live in. Not many stay at home Mom's cooking food for when Dad and the kids get home. And then there are the lazy fucks that don't care what thier kids are eating.

I would go to the grocery store with them and make sure I got fruits and veggies, whole grain bread, tuna, Wheaties, real oat meal, etc... My father was proud of my will power so I guess I was lucky in that regard.

the majority of isles in the average supermarket are filled with processed foods that are almost devoid of any usable nutrients.

personally I don't consider anything that isn't naturally occurring and served in it's natural state as "food" I lump all those other items into the junk category. things like already sliced vegetables, fruits, etc. being the only exceptions as they are only lightly processed.

It is only cheaper if you count total calories, but if you look at the quality of the calories, the healthy food pays off since you can eat less and still get more nutrition from it. In regards to time, do what BB do everyday in every corner of this country, prepare ahead. Plus, I don't know a single "busy" family that doesn't spend at least 3-4 hours watching tv every day.

My grandparents owned a farm and ranch, and everytime I was over there, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, damn good eating... Not healthy by any means, but I don't see how many can just settle for being a fatass and not care..

as Irish stated this is good food...all natural no additives, preservatives or chemicals added. this is what everyone should be eating. only the quantity is what matters when it comes to home cooking like this.

the problem is that far too many people consume junk that comes in paper boxes and other sorts of plastic wrap, etc. that is not perishable. a couple of meals of junk food over the course of the day and a person has consumed several hundred different food additives, etc....these are the things that are causing the overall decrease in the health status of Americans and others that have picked up the unhealthy Western diet that many follow in the states...

It is abuse. It would be great if parents had to take a test before having kids on proper nutrition for children, or were fined if their kids were over a certain BF%, but that's unlikely to ever come to pass. My best hope is that they'll create a health insurance group ONLY for people who eat healthy and exercise regularly, to bring costs down for the group, and up for everyone else who isn't in the group. So much healthcare money (particularly healthy peoples') is wasted on unhealthy fat fucks (who choose to be so).

Good stuff. However, I wouldn't go as far to say ADHD and ADD are mostly diet based. For many people, it is linked to diet, but there are far more for whom diet has no effect.

My father took me to mcD's and smoked in the car on the ride there. I still eat fastfood on occasion and i smoke on and off. Do i blame my father for all of this? Maybe so. But whatever...You guys act like youre going to live forever if you avoid fastfood and go vegan/organic. We're all gonna die, eat what the fuck you want and smoke em up. I could give 2 shits what the next guy does with their kids. I ate spoonfuls of nestle quick from the can as a kid, played in the streets and im a product of the nyc school system. We live, we die. the end. Now 'scuse me while i pin moor tren and skyrocket my bp.
