Thread: Pop vs Soda

I was in the west and asked for a "pop", the guy looked at me and asked where in the hell I was from. True story.

I'm with OF, pop is what it is called.

I call it death in a can but I still drink it sometimes, fml......

In my part of the states, everyone calls it soda.

I always called them a soda, but I prefer a beer anyday.

when I was a kid We moved to the south, they called it soda. i currently live back in the north where we call it pop.

Soda >pop

growing up we couldn't drink it but now I call it soda. the canadian gf calls it pop because up there if you ask for soda you get seltzer water.

In Texas they call it Soda water, In Missouri I always heard the yokels asking for Sodee or Soder. I don't know what I call it cause I don't drink it, but as a kid I always asked for a specific brand usually Root beer or Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb in a pinch....

I prefer beer. Man's drink.

Im from the Midwest so I call it pop. One of my friends is from New York , he calls it Coke.

most folks I know call soda by brand name or... just "coke" I don't drink it very much, but I do love an ice cold Dr Pepper10 every now and then

hold on are you saying sugar water is bad? you know common sense isn't so common these days not with the US being educated on the important topics by tv and politicians.

Most I hear is soda but there are people who call it soda pop.

And I remember reading an article somewhere where they discussed paper sack versus paper bag.

Was in the military at the base mess hall and commented about a grapefruit slice spritzing me. That caught another service member by surprise. Apparently the correct word is spray. Excuse me!

Here's a weird one. When I went to the grocery store in Hawaii with my gf for the first time she asked me to grab a "buggy". I was like, "a what?!?". She points at the shopping carts and goes you know a wagon, a buggy. I'd heard them called baskets in Texas, but it was so strange to find out that everyone in Hawaii called them buggies or wagons... It seemed like an outdated term my great-grandfather would call a shopping cart, yet I hear little kids saying it. I guess it's due to the number of Asians who practically live forever and keep these terms active a lot longer.

I never drink them but 'pop' sounds kinda gay. Maybe it's because it's an onomatopoeia and seems bit footloose and fancy free.

Hard for some to think it's bad. Especially the kiddies.

I remember the AM/PM Big Gulp. IIRCC, it was 62 ounces? And it was dirt cheap. A ploy to get people to go into the store, but just awful shite.

And at school, of course we have the mandatory coca-cola machine.

soda it is , back in the days when i was a kid it was a coke no matter what it was .... and shopping carts are called buggys where i live too
