While Romney?s tax avoidance is legal and common among high-net-worth individuals, it has become an issue in the campaign.

obviously its not just a problem with the system it's a problem with our society. for those with an extreme excess of income and wealth it does not effect their lifestyle one bit if they pay so it comes down to being straight up greedy by not doing so.

I personally wouldnt pay 1 cent into taxes if I didn't have to no matter how much money I had. Also if I was a billionaire fuck yea, I would have off shore accounts you never know when this country is going to take a shit and you have to get the fuck out and don't want to lose your ass. His moral obligation to paying taxes may not be up to par with what people think is right or wrong, but if every thing was legal then who gives a fuck.

Your right, but...the distribution of wealth concept is socialist. Can argue that. Thats what it is. I personally dont like that way of life. Im greedy and broke and still give to church and other causes. I wonder what that makes me. Its all very confusing

people like you are exactly why the US is in the state it is, the old "I got mine so fuck everybody else attitude" when an obvious corrupt political, financial system and sector has caused nothing but problems for the past 3 decades.

Why is it every ones responsibility to work harder then the rest? Romney donates to causes he believes in and so do I. Why should I pay extra tax dollars that will go to things that I do not believe in or feel are corrupt? I volunteer my time to help my local communities youth in the "freewheel project" and honestly probably give more back to their local community then most people. However, I do not believe in gov't funding in most cases and do not agree with most the shit the gov't funds and would rather get punched in the face then help further fund things like Obama phones and peta.

I also ensure I give back 20% to my church, which most of it goes to help younger kids go on mission trips and fund dinners for the needy. So keep your bull shit about this is why the state is where it is. People are fucking lazy in todays society and do not want to contribute period.

Are you trying to make a point LAM?

not a bad just a person just one born into money who made his personal fortune through a corrupt financial system and he doesn't like to pay taxes. if you truly understood how the US financial sector works and has been functioning since the 80's you would have a serious problem with this. it is exactly people like Mitt who caused the financial problems in 2008 that the entire country and world is currently paying the price for today.

and explain to me how socialist healthcare is suppose to save the economy? Both presidents are horrible, but the facts show that Obama has failed as a president. So why keep some one who failed in office. My vote is goes to what ever is going to keep Obama out of office plain and simple.

Dutch Newspaper Reports Romney Avoided $100 Million in Taxes

This morning, investigative reporters at a quality Dutch newspaper, De Volkskrant, published a story that Mitt Romney avoided $100 million in dividend taxes using a complex route that ran through The Netherlands. The mechanism used an arcane clause in the tax treaties that determine which country can tax which type of income when a construction, in this case a private equity fund, runs through multiple countries. Some of the data came from legal documents filed with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. The reporters repeatedly asked Romney to comment on the story but he refused. Here is a translation of the article.

How is healthcare in the US socialist?

the corporation is an invention of government so yes it should have implicit authority of it, just like the parent and the child. in the pre-1900's corporations had charters and if they broke laws, etc. their lost their charter and could not conduct business. then Supreme Court decisions gave the corporation the same rights as people and it's been downhill ever since.

in the real world where the rest of us live, lobbyists and special interest groups write the laws and trade agreements and have been doing so for over the past 100 years. which is why the US and ONLY the US has many of the problems it does while the same exact problems are not being seen anywhere else in the OECD. government in the US works for the markets not the other way around and it's why the markets get 1T in gov handouts a year as compared to the 500B the people get.

For Christ's sake I can have a corporation in GA and open a LLC in SC and save tons of tax money in an aircraft acquisition. I know someone who did just that when he purchased a $12mil Hawker in SC and flew it right back to its new hangar in GA.

Tax shelters aren't exclusive to foreign countries.
