A similiar story regarding HSBC bank was reported about 1 year ago. I have 1 HSBC credit card. (they are now owned by Capital One) When the story broke, I called and cancelled my card. The "retention specialist" asked me why I was cancelling and I told her it was because they were funneling money to Iran. She didn't seem to happy with it, but in any event...card cancelled.

I opened up an ING Direct account just to avoid having easy access to monies but since they have been bought by Capital One I have to move those monies to another online bank that does not lend. I remember when I got out of the Navy in '94-95 Capital One sent me a credit card and I didn't even open an account. the weird thing was they didn't charge me any interest when I did use it for like 5 years, very bizarre.
