    ^ LAM,

Thanks for the find. It raises questions, but also questions that need to be investigated.

I am starting to smell a rat about this whole thing.

If Petreus is asked to testify before Congress you would - if he said "no" - they can supbeana him [sic].

The State Dept and US gov response in the beginning after Stevens was killed was garbage as well as Susan Rice. Are these people this stupid? Or are they covering something up? Perhaps both.

    After all, it is, Washington.

And yes, Stevens could have been a liaison between Al-Qaeda and the Syrian Opposition - but would they both need a liaison? Him?

Could have been a CIA operation to aid the Syrian rebels via Al-Qaeda in Benghazi.

Have you seen photos of the woman he's alleged to have had the affair with?

David Petraeus and his biographer, Paula Broadwell

    Petraeus lover threatened Florida woman

    November 12, 2012

WASHINGTON: Former CIA director David Petraeus never shied away from the public eye before in times of crises. Now, he might not have a choice. As details emerged about his extramarital affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, including a second woman who allegedly received threatening emails from the author, members of Congress said Sunday they wanted to know exactly when the now ex-CIA director and retired general popped up in an FBI inquiry, whether national security was compromised and why they weren?t told sooner.

?We received no advance notice. It was like a lightning bolt,? said Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee.

A senior U.S. military official identified the second woman as Jill Kelley, 37, who lives in Tampa, Florida, and serves as the State Department?s liaison to the military?s Joint Special Operations Command, where among other duties, secret drone missions are worked on.

The military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation, said Kelley had received harassing emails from Broadwell, which led the FBI to examine her email account and eventually discover her relationship with Petraeus.

A friend of Kelley and Petraeus, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said the two saw each other often, but the nature of their friendship was unclear.

Petraeus resigned while lawmakers still had questions about the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate and CIA base in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens. Lawmakers said it?s possible Petraeus will still be asked to appear on Capitol Hill to testify about what he knew about the U.S. response to that incident.

Rep. Peter King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said the circumstances of the FBI probe smacked of a cover-up by the White House.

?It seems this [investigation] has been going on for several months and, yet, now it appears that they?re saying the FBI didn?t realize until Election Day that General Petraeus was involved. It just doesn?t add up,? said King.

Petraeus, 60, quit Friday after acknowledging an extramarital relationship. He has been married 38 years to Holly Petraeus, with whom he has two adult children, including a son who led an infantry platoon in Afghanistan as an army lieutenant.

Broadwell, a 40-year-old graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an army reserve officer, is married with two young sons.

Broadwell has not responded to multiple emails and phone messages. Attempts to reach Kelley were not immediately successful.

Petraeus? affair with Broadwell will be the subject of meetings Wednesday involving congressional intelligence committee leaders, FBI deputy director Sean Joyce and CIA deputy director Michael Morell.

Petraeus had been scheduled to appear before the committees Thursday to testify on what the CIA knew and what the agency told the White House before, during and after the attack in Benghazi. Republicans and some Democrats have questioned the U.S. response and protection of diplomats stationed overseas.

Morell was expected to testify in place of Petraeus, and lawmakers said he should have the answers to their questions. But Feinstein and others didn?t rule out the possibility that Congress will compel Petraeus to testify about Benghazi at a later date, even though he?s relinquished his job.

Feinstein said she first learned of Petraeus? affair from the media late last week, and confirmed it in a phone call Friday with Petraeus. She eventually was briefed by the FBI and said so far there had been no indication that national security had been breached.

Still, Feinstein called the news ?a heartbreak? for her personally and U.S. intelligence operations, and said she didn?t understand why the FBI didn?t give her a heads up as soon as Petraeus? name emerged in the investigation.

?We are very much able to keep things in a classified setting,? she said. ?At least if you know, you can begin to think and then to plan. And, of course, we have not had that opportunity.?

The director of national intelligence, James Clapper, was told by the Justice Department of the Petraeus investigation at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Election Day, and then called Petraeus and urged him to resign, according to a senior U.S. intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

FBI officials say the Senate and House intelligence committees weren?t informed until Friday, one official said, because the matter started as a criminal probe into harassing emails sent by Broadwell to another woman.

Petraeus decided to quit, though he was breaking no laws by having an affair, officials said.
Feinstein said she has not been told the precise relationship between Petraeus and the woman who reported the harassing emails to the FBI.

there are many that say Al-Qaeda is and has always been doing dirty work for the CIA. and considering that it was the CIA that trained the Afghan Mujahideen (who then became AL-Qaeda when the US needed a new enemy in US media outlets) to fight the Russians, it's plausible.

lol Not rubbing it in. I've been known in the past to be an annoying prick with regard to spelling but honestly I just love words and posted that for accuracy/curiosity. Was a proofreader by trade for a few years, started out college as an English major, worked as a journalist in the service, and -- probably the biggest reason for my love of words -- got dropped like a rock in my one and only spelling bee in sixth grade for misspelling the word argument.

Holly Petraeus: Top 10 Facts You Need to Know

Thirty-eight years ago, West Point graduate David Petraeus married the woman who'd be there with him through his lengthy military career.

But late in their marriage, Holly Petraeus is facing a challenge no woman should have to deal with -- a very public expose' of her husband's infidelity, complete with lurid details that just keep getting worse. And in addition to the humiliation of her husband's infidelities, she must deal with the insinuations that she couldn't keep her own husband and the insult that he traded her affections for those of a much-younger woman.

David Petraeus, though, isn't the only strength in this military family. Anybody who knows military wives, especially those married to extremely high-ranking officers, also knows many of them have backbones of steel, and Holly Petraeus is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

    1. She is the Daughter of a Four-Star General

Holly grew up in a military family and as the daughter of four-star Gen. William Knowlton, who became the superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. But before he took over West Point, the general, who died in 2008, was a highly decorated soldier, with awards and decorations including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal the Army Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Bronze Star, Air Medal with 9 oak leaf clusters, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. His foreign awards include the French Legion d'Honneur and the Gro?es Verdienstkreuz mit Stern from Germany.

So Holly was no stranger to the military life or the extraordinary demands that come along with being married to a general that many people consider a hero.

    2. She and David Petraeus Met While He was a Cadet

Holly and David Petraeus met in 1973 while he was a cadet at West Point and she was attending Dickinson College. The couple dated for about a year and got married just two months after Petraeus graduated. Her given name is Hollister, according to their engagement announcement.

    3. They Met on a Blind Date

Holly was a senior at Dickinson College, when she visited her parents at West Point. A family friend fixed her up with a last-minute blind date with David Petraeus, and the young couple's first date was to a football game.

"There was a superintendent with an attractive daughter and 4,000 lonely guys," classmate Conrad Crane said in an interview with USA Today. "Dave was the one who got the girl."

    4. They Were Smitten From the Beginning

While some through the years have insisted Petraeus went after the superintendent's daughter to further his own career, in reality, the couple doted on each other from the beginning, and Holly says of their quick marriage, "We fell in love. I admired his intelligence and thought he was great. I had no way of predicting how far he would go."

    5. She Probably Could Have Had Her Choice of Military Men

With her military pedigree, Holly probably could have chosen anyone, not a mere cadet. Back then, nobody could have realized how far David Petraeus would climb, and it would take a lot to impress a woman whose father was the head of West Point and who has a family with service that reaches back to the Revolutionary War, with her brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather all being in the military.

    6. The Couple Has Two Now-Grown Children

Holly and David Petraeus are the parents of Anne and Steven Petraeus. Steven, who graduated from MIT, served two tours in Afghanistan. Anne graduated in 2004 from her mother's alma mater, Dickinson, which awarded her father with an honorary doctorate degree when he spoke at commencement in 2012. Anne got married just a few weeks ago.

    7. They Moved 23 Times in 36 Years

The Petraeuses were the typical military family. While the general was overseeing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and rising to head the CIA, Holly followed him faithfully, raised their children and volunteered at the bases where the lived.

    8. Gen. Petraeus Isn't the Only Star in the Family

Holly Petraeus has channeled her brains and talents over the years, and she's considered one of the country's most visible advocates for military families. She's also well-regarded as a fierce lobbyist who enjoys a lot of credibility on Capitol Hill.

    9. She Works for the Obama Administration

Holly is the assistant director for the Obama administration's Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and monitors and investigates consumer complaints from U.S. service members. Ironically, she often speaks about the need to keep military families together, noting that some financial situations have caused many service members to have "opted to avoid foreclosure by leaving their family in their home and going alone to their new duty station ? a separation that can last three years or more."

    10. She Has Not Spoken Out About Her Husband's Indiscretions

Her husband has been open about the errors of his ways, saying:

"After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours."

But despite the public humiliation, Holly isn't talking about her problems in public -- and knowing her background, she likely won't, either.

no one ever said she was not accomplished, but who would want to wake up to her naked? I mean seriously there is never an excuse to let your self go period. I worked for General P directly in 2007 and would assist in all of his battle update accessments (BUA) he would do every thing he could to stay in shape. So there is no excuse in being busy or ect. Just my take on it, less husbands would cheat if their wives would stay fit like they were when they first got married.

I tell my girl all the time she needs to tone up in places. She doesn't get pissed when I say that because we help each other out pointing out places we need to focus on. She is not uptight at all about it. She does not want to wake up to a 240lb fat slob of a man and I do not want to wake up with a 200lb tub of lard. As bad as it may sound but ladies if you do not want your guy to cheat, do your best to look sexy and guys if you don't want your girl to cheat you have to do sweat romantic things for them.

I am sure there are many women at that or around that age with 2 or more kids that can attest to it. Shit Sarah Palin is 48 with kids and I would still smash the shit out of that ass.

Common knowledge. We used them to screw with the Russians,. Then never followed up to keep them under control. Classic American government behavior.

My only question is "Why are we still wasting time, blood and money in that shit hole part of the world?"

depending on the source some say that was intentional as well. the US government has to keep the DOD contractors in business as they are psuedo-government agency's after all the decades. their profits are directly tied to stock share prices and the wealth of the company owners. EVERYTHING IN THE US IS ABOUT MONEY

whatever is going on today in the CIA it can't be good (as if it ever was). at least 70% of the people I know there were have quit and either gone into the FBI or to the state police, etc. US gov security agency's are more like clubs, if your parents were in and you are degreed with out a record, etc. your as good as in.

or they black mailed him to get out so he couldn't reveal what he knows. either way the timing is fishy, and it leads directly to Obama. Obama is as dirty as fuck in all this. He knew from the get go that Benghazi was way more than a response to a youtube video.

As far as the affairs I feel very sad for them, especially his wife, that this is so public. My second husband cheated on me and it destroyed our marriage. 20 years after our divorce we started spending time together and had 2 great years as platonic best friends before he died in an explosion in Florida. At the time I never would have believed it but I think he suffered more for his actions than I did. He was a really good man that made some human mistakes. If there was one thing I could let him know after his death it would be that it was true I had forgiven him completely and his mistakes did not tarnish what he was in my eyes. I told him it didn't matter, and it really didn't, but I think it never stopped tormenting him. In the scope of a whole lifetime a few indiscretions are not the sum of a man.

The President, if called to testify before congress, will do the same thing he did in the Fast and Furious scandal...absolutely nothing.
He will use executive privilege once again to hide his knowledge and involvement (if any) in the decisions that led to the deaths in Benghazi.
No one else involved will have the ability to do the same.
If mistakes were made (and it damn sure seems that there were) someone will be forced to take the fall whether it was entirely their fault or not.
For any US official in that region to have so little security is a major fuck up and all at fault should have to answer for it right on up to the executive branch if that's where it leads.
They need to make certain to implement new protocols so it doesn't happen again.

Secretary of State takes responsibility for it then leaves her post (I know all cabinet members resign at this time) which is convenient. Now head of the CIA resigns suddenly. seems Obama is doing an effective way of burying this and limiting his ties to it.

I just saw the breaking news on tv: General Allen is under investigation as well regarding the emails. It's like Samson & Delilah: nookie will bring you down every time.
