Peacefully grant the State of Texas to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.

This would be very interesting. I'm inclined to think the fed would be very scared to do this. It would set a precedent that Alaska and likey some or all the upper mid west(Wyoming, north and South Dakota) would look to follow.

That's just the lunatic fringe. They lost the election and are now in tears.

It will never happen, and none of them would be successful. If it wasn't for the U.S. Texas would be northern Mexico.

It is more likely to win the lottery than the Fed to allow any state to secede from the union. What I find interesting is it takes 35K signatures for the White House to respond to a petition, Texas had about 64k signatures, I wonder if "the administration" will reply??? They replied to "What is the White House beer recipe" petition with only 13K signatures, lols.

I agree, it will probably never happen, and yes people are outraged and pissed or in tears, word it how you want. Your out of your mind if you think Texas would be Northern Mexico, lolz. Texas could smear Mexico in to oblivion in 7 days, not to mention most Mexican citizens would side with Texas in a heartbeat over Mexico and their corruption. It would be a Texas Military against Mexican drug dealers. period.

    "States" want to secede.

    Erm...it's a signature campaign.

Secession is a bit more complicated than that.

That said, I think people should be more aware of the reckless Feds, their elitism, and interfering in state affairs.

History shows Mexico kicks Texas ass every time. Texas wouldn't get to keep that equipment that says U.S. Military on it to defend themselves.

The drug cartels would push further north until all of Texas was Mexico.

not probably never happen...IMPOSSIBLE and will never happen. finance and capitalist own and run the US, nothing that effects their wealth is allowed to occur, it's that simple. the US economy would come to a grinding halt, the dollar would drop below the peso and dozens of other negative things.

and besides all of that what currency would any of the "new states" use? and how would they back it? certainly not with gold as they don't have any. and you can't back a fiat currency with out taxes and debt.

the people writing in to succeed no nothing about economics or money in general, they are acting purely on emotion and that's what fools do.

Let some fringe state that adds nothing of value and is a giant black hole of federal funds secede. Roll the entire US military out, no longer give them money for roads and other infrastructure and tell them to come up with their own currency. When El Salvadore steamrolls them halfway into oblivion call up whatever passes for a leader in the lone state of We Just Got Our Asses Kicked how that's working out for them.

After that ask the rest if they still want to secede.

on top of all that then there is import/export tariffs, professional licensing for the business and individual becomes VOID FOR ALL in that state, changes in security for air travel, rail, etc..etc..etc..

got to love the inability for radicals to have critical thought processes at almost any level.

i would never happen as much as I have talked about a revolution, the military will just go in and take over. There is no way any militia would stand a chance...

It's has over 7,000 signatures already.

No can do...legally. The Supreme Court settled this back in the 1880's. For a state to be able to legally secede, it has to be mutually agreed upon by the state and the federal government. I wouldn't bet on that happening. So, Texas wants out and they vote themselves out. What will they do when the federal arrest warrants are issued and the Abraham Tanks come rolling into Austin?

I think the states should run their states the way they want and tell the federal govt to fuck off. they don't need to succeed. they'd just have to win In court when the Feds sue.

89k signatures, Pretty bad when our country has come to this. The federal government has far too much power, more power should be in the hands of the states. This seceding thing stands little to no chance tho

mostly states that rely on federal money to function. there isn't a single state in the US that hasn't had debt problems since the late 60's. EVERY SINGLE STATE in the US has been issuing debt in the form of bonds to pay it's bills for the past 50 years. the low wage states in the south collect the greatest amounts of federal tax dollars via the blue states. there would be no public education in the RTW states with out it.

only the wealthy in each state could afford to have their children educated, let me think there was a time in the US when it was like this. oh yea when it sucked really bad in the 1700-1800's...

We already fought a war over it, the states rights side was defeated.

I'm not talking about complete state government control like what led to the civil war. Just talking less federal government, which is becoming more and more. Let's see how well this works for us.. And those times were different than they are now, you cant even compare 1860 with 2012 issues.

sure you can...the Federal Reserve and fractional banking system was running the show in 1860 and still is in 2012. what's changed, nothing at all except things are worst now than in the early 1900's with nothing good on the horizon.
