Spot on! It's very rare that anybody else presents a study or actual facts. Like his stance or not, he will support it with legitimate documentation.

I enjoy Lam's views.....for a more complete picture, other peoples opinions are important.....stifling ideas is controlling and boring....

my formal education started with a degree in exercise science from san diego state, then a degree in computer science from shippensburg then post navy I returned to school and obtained a dual degree in computer and electronic engineering from drexel.

analyzing data and solving problems comes easy to me as I have been doing it for decades. when you know how a system or process is designed to function and it ceases to, you first identify a timeline of negative events and work your way back to the point in time when it was last functioning properly or in some cases when it failed. how easy or hard that is to accomplish really depends on the system or process your working on and whether it is simple, complicated or complex in design.

in terms of economics I do the same and to determine whether or not events (regardless if they are positive or negative) are the natural progression of capitalism and the markets or of economic policy based on politics. and for that I turn to other country's with similar governments, trade, etc. and use some basic comparative economic analysis.

And yes, posting stats and articles and links does not mean someone is "right" but his data is indeed "legit" as in legitimate data. Fed reserve econ info and OECD data.

the source of information is a major determining factor of it's legitimacy especially if the explanation of causality involves the analysis of complicated or complex processes. further credence is given to such explanations if they are proven to hold true in reality.

you get 100% of your information from tv and politicians while I get none of mine from either of those 2 sources, two vastly different approaches to gathering information.

somebody mentioned something about me being conceded, which is easily mistaken for being extremely confident. i've spent thousands and thousands of hours reading economic papers over the decades, while many of you spend minutes or hours over the course of the week listening to politicians or other pundits on tv so I would never imagine we would ever come to the same conclusion about anything.

Drexel is a very, very hard school to get into and complete so show some respect. I have a family member who went there so when I read that he gets props from me. WE don't see eye to eye but you cannot say he is not meticulous in his methods.

Dang Lam so how many degrees total, 3-4? I only have one degree and that was hard enough for me, i was lucky enough to complete it while I was single and no kids. My poor wife had to work on her degree with 2 kids while I away for work weeks at a time.
