Not all are going to be bad. Good for him, knowing when to use deadly force, or in this case when not to use it.

Although, following anti-gunner logic shouldn't he have turned into a vigilante and blown his attacker away?

looks like the guy behind them is with the shooter. i'd have shot the attacker in the legs as he advanced.

obviously the victim has seen some real shit and didnt feel threatened, most people I think would have reached immediately for their gun and made a bad situation worse.

Shooting someone in the legs creates a greater chance of death for the person who is shot. Your chances of hitting the femoral artery are high, causing him to bleed out in seconds. Shooting for center mass can cause death, but when shooting someone in self defense you aren't trying to kill them you are trying to neutralize the threat. You can get away with a head shot if your attacker is in very close proximity to you, partly because when you are aiming your weapon will be at head height.

More people die form being punched than die from gunshot wounds. Statistical fact.

Simply pulling a real gun may have made the attacker stop immediately, knowing he was facing an actual firearm against his pellet gun.

Your attackers do not need to be armed. If they are confident enough to attack you, even if it is just one attacker, you pull your weapon and they do not stop you can neutralize that threat with deadly force. If defending yourself is cowardly so be it. My family, myself and those around me that I am able to defend will be safe and unharmed. If getting killed by someone or a group is your version of a moral high ground you can keep that for your entire short and possibly crippled life. When someone is attacking you they won't stop because you are begging and pleading. They won't listen to your reasoning why they should stop what they are doing and reform their lives. They are going to stomp the living fuck out of you, or worse, until they think they are finished, they won't stop when you cry uncle or shit and piss your pants. They won't stop when your face is so smashed you will need years and dozens of surgeries to even look halfway like you did before you took the moral high ground and became a victim. When your wife or soon to be ex-wife or girlfriend are in recover next to you from the raping you let them morally take do you really think she is going to look at you the same way? When the chips were down you let her be assaulted because somehow that is more brave and manly. I'll manage to live with being a coward and a pussy knowing I can and will do what's necessary to keep my family safe.

Apparently you don't know anything about people defending themselves with firearms. Only in places like Chicago, New York City and Washington DC will you be prosecuted for the justified using of deadly force. If you are in fear of great bodily harm or death, great bodily harm or death of someone around you, you will more than likely be found justified in the use of deadly force. I highly recommend you quit watching Law and Order:SVU (unless the stories of defenseless women getting raped really turns you on) and get seriously educated about self defense.

The fact is that many crimes are foiled by an armed citizen who did not have to fire a single shot. The guy with the knife outside the grocery store, someone legally carrying a concealed pistol stopped him without firing a single shot. He pulled his pistol, ordered the guy to drop the knife and lay on the ground. He kept the criminal there until police arrived. Some fantasy world.

There are only two possible reasons for your lunacy. The first being you have a secret fantasy to watch your significant other get sexually assaulted while you watch helplessly, unable to intervene, or you are the guy that is going to be shot by someone like me, who is unwilling to be a victim.
