It is what it is. Some folks have money some don't. The strange thing is when you ask the people who have some money, they do not think they are rich. I have a buddy who made it big in the stock market and some really lucky property investments before the crash. When he hit 3 million, he retired at 50. His investment income is around 100K, and he thinks he is lower middle class.

This really happened last week. (I am thyinking of moving to SC when I get my early retirement)

    Ring....
    "Hi mom"
    "Hello son."
"Mom what can you tell me about about living on Kwiaha Island?"
"Oh, that is where all the rich assholes live."
"Mom, you live on Kwiaha Island".
    "But I'm not rich"
    "Mom, yes you are."
    "Oh...don't tell your sister."
    "Mom, I think she knows."
    "Why do you say that?"
"You bought her a house next to yours."
    "Oh, but I'm not rich."

if you notice most cities the metro areas are heavily populated with people on the lower end of the income ladder, yet the metro area is where the majority of the GDP across each state is generated.

there are reasons why no other country's in the world have adopted most of the banking policies that we have in the U.S, they are nothing except destructive to the real economy. there is always a point of diminishing returns, with everything and with banking in the U.S we past that long ago.

unbeknownst to most we're still segregated just not by race anymore.

This Is The Most Depressing Version Of Google Maps I?ve Ever Seen

My neighborhood is mostly young renters each renting a single room in these $800k-$2mil homes, the owners live in Kahala, Kapolei, Hawaii Kai yet the colors are the same about 3-4 notches from red. It shows Waikiki as red yet most of the families there are renting condos and apartments and work at low paying jobs in the hotels right there... The map makes assumptions based on real estate value I think which doesn't accurately reflect actual house income due to half our state being renters.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles

and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

    Boise, Idaho:

And Boise has a cost of living wa-a-ay below those other cities. Then again, there aren't that many Mexicans (or other minorities) to fuck up the statistics. Looking at the above map, care to guess where the few Mexican in Boise live? That's right, Caldwell, Nampa, and north of downtown (Garden City). Downtown is so low because it's a college city. The outlying places are generally uninhabited wilderness.

Moral of the story: Mexicans don't make that much and a lot of people that actually make money have fled the inner city shit-holes to better places.

    I meant green, not red.

Also depressing that the areas where base housing is around MCBH, Fort Shafter, Schofield and Pearl Harbor/Hickam are dark yellow, orange and some red.

Or maybe it's from the census. Those homes don't belong to the renters, but the, assumably, wealthy owners.

But they use your address on the Census, it should reflect the income of those living in the area. Unless they added up the totals of the multi-tenants and assumed them as one household.

It's driving me nuts though with all these renters each owning a car my street has no parking anymore.

If we didn't have a growing underclass, how would the Democrats win national elections?

The GOP putting up politicians whose only talent is grinning doesn't help either.

Easy. By Republicans always being on the wrong side of every argument and trying to screw over the masses.

this is what I was trained in the Navy. If you wait and depend on others to walk you through your career you will never make chief or become an officer. The same goes for civillians it is not some one elses responsibility to ensure your success in life or your income. If you are not happy with the money you make then do some thing about it. I work 3 jobs and a full time student, I could live off of one of them sure, but I want more then mediocracy in my life. I want success and a comfortable retirement. I like traveling the world and having fun. So I bust my ass to make a living. I enjoy being a home owner, owning a car i have invested close to a 100k into which is stupid, but I like it. I enjoy having a 1000$ grocery bill a month between supplements and food. I eat like a king... Because I worked for it.

The part that is depressing is the % of those people that are probably unmotivated and not self driven.
