US Can "Defend Against" NKorea Attack

    Published on Mar 7, 2013
The U.S. is fully capable of defending itself the White House says, after Pyongyang threatened a pre-emptive nuclear strike. The threats were sparked by a U.N. Security Council vote that hit the regime with tougher sanctions. (March 7)

It seems the US is always on the brink of total annihilation, 1st Iraq, then Afghan now NK!

Come on man, pick a descent foe, were lookin like school yard bullies!

Same North Korean threats, same empty rhetoric from the United States.

PRK: We'll Nuke you off the map
U.S.: We're hitting you with more sanctions
PRK: F**** your sanctions, we'll rain fire on you
U.S.: There's still time for diplomacy
PRK: We will test a Nuke within 48 hours
US: Can you delay it please, we have a 30 million dollar food aid package being delivered to you

Don't think it would take too long for whatever forces we have south of the DMZ to steamroll the entire length of North Korea in a matter of days.

The whole reason NK has their panties in a wad is because the UN has included Gummy Bears in the banned items in the new sanctions. The slant eyed Pillsbury Doughboy running the place is in a panic about no more Gummy Bears. And someone finally told him Dennis Rodman wasn't the President of the United States.

it's just funny how they use fear all the time in the US media for "threats" that don't even exist. N. Korea is broke as fuck, they aren't attacking anybody. at best they can flex their puny muscles with some of their 1980's tech.

You are right about the broke as fuck part, but they still have money to keep the leadership living large while the people eat grass. Don't underestimate looney tune dictators with a god complex. They may not have the means to lob a ballistic missile that reaches the US, yet. There is no real need for a ballistic missile: stick a nuke in the hold of a freighter and float it into any harbor they want. Then make their statement. And there would be a pretty high probability we would not see it coming.

imagine how much money they would save by doing that instead of numerous failed missile tests

Our government and military new about the planes heading for the World Trade Center before they struck killing thousands and either couldnt stop them or chose not to...Stopping a nuclear missle would be much harder especially after a EMP attack which would knock our entire electrical grid out...Rolling your eyes does nothing to validate your question or change these facts.

Thank you for the deep Intel update Captain Theory. Still doesn't make random planes the same as something being fired from a known and Monitored location.

I didnt post a theory i posted facts...North Korea has made threats about EMP's...How do you monitor a location after an EMP attack when your entire electrical grid is shut down?...You also seem to think that NK has to fire missles from their country only...Ever hear of Pearl Harbor?...A nuclear attack can come from anywhere land sea or air or even from within our own country...There are terrorists willing to do this...Free your mind!

historically wars have been started over either religion or resources with capitalists and bankers ultimately behind them. no financial gains would come to N. Korea for attacking any country, they stand to lose far more than to gain.

Although nuclear EMP was known since the very first days of nuclear weapons testing (and often caused problems in the local area -- especially with monitoring equipment), the magnitude of the effects of high-altitude nuclear EMP were not known until a 1962 test of a thermonuclear weapon in space called the Starfish Prime test. The Starfish Prime test knocked out some of the electrical and electronic components in Hawaii, which was 897 miles (1445 kilometers) away from the nuclear explosion. The damage was very limited compared to what it would be today because the electrical and electronic components of 1962 were much more resistant to the effects of EMP than the sensitive microelectronics of today. The magnitude of the effect of an EMP attack on the United States, or any similar advanced country, will remain unknown until one actually happens. Unless the device is very small or detonated at an insufficiently high altitude, it is likely that it would knock out the nearly the entire electrical power grid of the United States.

Good post, i like it when people base their conclusions on facts and evidence rather then emotion and opinion like some do....So your last line sounds like you agree.

If there is ever an EMP it is the people that are screwed. You don't think that the government has not hardened their equipment and locations? Our power grid will go down, but the government and elites will go about their business as usual. And really do you think that military aircraft, naval vessels and missile systems aren't protected from this sort of thing?

couple of my good buddy's in the Navy worked in electronic warfare (EW) I don't know of any navy vessels protected from EMP not sure about the new Littoral combat ships. it's extremely difficult to protect against EMP. the only places I've ever seen Faraday cages are in secure data warehouses.
