i am 23 and i got a hernia - have not worked out so it is not from that, - i have ahd it about 3 years now i think, possibly more, was not until this past december it really stuck out when i was moving our offices from Antigua to Costa Rica,

i have yet to get it fixed, but will with in the next few months,

i noticed if i have a drink (alchy) after 1 or 2 - it goes cold down there, feels like an ice cube - i dont get any sharp pains.

Suppoedly a LARGE % of the US population has hernia's but never know about it or get it checked out ebcause they think it is something else.

I have a hernia and like Mr.G have had it for a while. I've had it i guess between 1-2 years. One day I felt a sharp pain in my belly button and I started feeling around there, when I felt a hard ring around my belly button. I was shocked, and asked to feel Titanya's who had no ring, so I knew something was abnormal. I learned that when I coughed it would petrude more. The doctor said I had a hernia but that there was no real reason to have it removed until it started becoming painful, and by the time I had seen a doctor is wasn't hurting bad anymore. I have heard that sometimes it even fixes itself. Right now getting it removed isn't on my To-Do list, as I have a thyroid appointment later this month and another specialist appointment at the beginning of July. You're right, when it rains it pours.

mine is off to the left of my belly button, more to the right and down on the right side of my abs - this is supposedly the most common type - where the muscle wall seperates.

a hernia will continue to grow and does not stop - until it is taken care of - some pics i saw people have had this sack down to their knees it got so big.!!
