After the behavior thats been going on for the past several days I propose that we learn to self moderate ourselves. This does not mean that moderators do not have a play in the system, but I'd like to think that we can all read what we write before we post. There just arent enough moderators, nor do they want to appear as board Nazis I'm sure... so why dont we all learn a little self control, its the least we can try to work on. I'm certainly including myself in that group. Lets look at the facts:
This is Princes Board and we, even though we are members, are guests here. His hardware, his work, etc. I dont really feel like arguing this point with anybody or discuss what he gets in return for it (of which I have no idea really). If someone invites you over for dinner you dont piss on his carpet... and sadly enough we've been doing that alot lately around here. If we act in that manner, we're nothing better than thieves stealing from Prince. I say its time we say thanks to Prince and give him and the service he provides us a bit of respect. and no, I'm not working on my brownie button.
Whatever happened to showing each other a little decency? Some how we get online and because we can hide being online personas we throw muck at each other and say things that we wouldnt say to each other face to face. While some of you say you would... I highly doubt it, and alot of things said in here while entertaining to some are downright offensive to others. Why dont we try something on for size, Why dont we try and treat each other like we would somebody we had to see in the gym every day, or the person who lives next door. I doubt it will hurt you at all... and lets be realistic, getting in a virtual pissing contest is pathetic.
Whats even more pathetic is making personal slams against each other... and not just as a joke, but meant to hurt someone. I had a professor that once said "the only kind of criticism you should ever make in an argument is constructive criticism". He was and is right. There is absolutely no reason to try and degrade someone else here. You dont get along? Steer clear of each other... or even better, be mature and get over it. You slam someone on here in front of everyone and you're not making a fool of the other person, you're making a fool of yourself, because you're showing everyone that you are so weak you cant even control yourself on a message board. The person who will criticise another in a non constructive manner is doing it because they feel they have to make up for an inadeqaucy of their own by pointing out another persons weaknesses. If you wish to argue that then by all means... but try a little self critique next time you bash someone and look at the real reasons you are doing so.
I really dont want this to turn into a book... and I'm quite sure that this post will attract some of the people I was just referring to and they'll gladly show their colors to get a little slam in about something. Nobody is impressed.
I for one am going to do a little self moderation... because there are a other people here besides myself and I'm tired of wasting their time.
btw, Thanks Prince for the board.
Well said...and I totally agree
