What attributues would you describe define a true "Mans man"

Funny thing I've been seeing lately. Someone referring to themself as a: Mans' man. I'm just curious to find out here what the members here would say make up a true Man. I'll post my opinion and feel free to post your own. Please don't make a joke out of this I'm SERIOUS!! Keep the size of the pecker bullshit out of here.
1) Honorable
2) Couragous yet honest enough to admit he has fears. Anyone that
ever said that they fear nothing is a LIAR.
3) Respected by others. (see number 4)
4) Is respectful to others.
5) Is humble and feels he needs not bragg or boast about himself
6) Does not NEED to bragg or boast about himself.
7) Honest and true to his beliefs and people he comes in contact with.
8) Strong in mind, body, and spirit.
9) Does not moan and endures all life hands down to him and takes his
lumps on the chin and never lowers his head in defeat. He goes on.
10) Can take criticism and in turn speaks his feelings in a tactful way.
11) Treats a woman like a woman should be treated, with tenderness
and like a lady.
12) Comes to the aid of persons in need or trouble regardless of his own
safety. Expects nothing in return in the form of reward for a
selfless act.
13) He is a leader never a follower.
14) Not afraid to admit he was wrong and not afraid to say he is sorry.
15) The way he projects himself to others WITHOUT having to say a word portrays self confidence, and a high self esteem that commands respect from others. He leaves you with a feeling secure and safe not intimidated or beneath him.

Well that is what comes to mind. So with all that said and written, If you feel the need to prove yourself or how wonderful your are to others with words, your not a mans man. (that basically says your egotistical)
If you come on here and say: Hey I have all the qualities Fire just mentioned, I'm a mans man then your NOT. because you obviously didn't see number 5. A real mans man would never claim to be, he would just be.
Who would I give as an example of a real man? John Wayne for one.

Doesn't need to use physical violence as a method of communication or argumentation.

Selflessly helps others.

With the exceptions of 11 and 13, you've described a decent person, man or woman.

If you're looking for celebrities I'd say Michael Landon (Little House on the Praire fame).

Yeah, I dunno about John Wayne. While he may have been looked up to as a "mans man" he did have a small penis supposedly, I dunno somewhere in the back of my mind something tells me he has some things hiding in the past.

I will agree with Blieb, but add one more thing. A man's man will have a smaller wiener than me. I can get along with any guy as long as that is true.

I dislike people who cannot laugh at themselves. They are ususally the biggest critics too.

I do not think there is such a thing as a man's man .......

Whatever attribute you post there will always be someone that doesn't completely agree with it. It all comes down to personal preference...... which isn't that what makes you admire certain individuals anyways?

When men say that they are a man's man...to me it just sounds as though they play with the same sex.

However sometimes when it is used in other situations it can mean....someone who thinks he is tough and doesnt cry and beats his chest or does chin up or pushups in the washroom before he walks down the beach which i think is hilarious...but lets not get into this again.

On the other hand my man needs to be: sensitive and cry when they feel sad...strong and stand up for his women when it is needed...emotional and spiritually aware of his suroundings...makes me laugh during the toughest times.....oh and a man's man eats kat any day anytime and anywhere.

....and thats my $.02

Okay, here we go...

There I cried

There, I am standing up and strong

There, I am being spiritual

I love eating kat, chinese food is my favorite.

I suppose after that last one you were probably laughing so I am done now.

Shouldn't licking the "kitty" be No. 1 on any list?

I love to lick the kitten. So sue me!

Also, I make fun of myself all the time because I make it so damn easy. I figure, if everyone else makes fun of me, I might as well too...

To me, a good man is one that can accept responsibility, learn from his mistakes and attempt to correct them or never repeat them, and who is honest with himself and with others.

Good post, brotha-

I would do a little editing on this one:

13) He is a leader never a follower.
13a) He is a leader, but is also able to follow someone elses lead

well well it looks like I inspired a thread huh fire. First of all a mans man is NOT someone that plays with the opposite sex no matter what J'Bo says. Secondly a mans man doesn't not lick the kitty all day. fair exchange baby.
Seriously though. A mans man is someone that doesn't compromise his beliefs for anyone, yet is still open minded. He is ambitious and brave. A mans man is unwilling to settle, he knows what he wants and nothing will stop him. A mans man takes no shit from anyone, he is proud and dignified and answers to no one but the man in the mirror. A mans man takes care of the people in his life he loves and handles his business. I like most of the ones that you posted Fire, except #11. He doesn't put women on a pedestal just because she is a woman. He never calls her princess and goddess. He doesn't have a fuzzy toilet seat for a woman, he doesn't have checks with little kittys on them, a mans man does not become pussified, he makes adjustments, but he is still the man. Most importantly ladies, a mans man gives you a good crack on the ass and puts it on you like he should. HA
