I think hormones play a part in the growth rate.

I have heard that a good vitamin will "help" but I don't know if that is true or not. I would think that it is more of a genetic thing IMO.

Genetics would determine how much hair you have but hormones would determine how fast it would grow.

    Anybody else???

Here's an excerpt from an article at WebMD.com

Hormonal changes in a woman's body through her life will cause changes in the time and production of her hair. Before puberty, facial hair is a fine, thin type known as "vellus." With the onset of puberty, hormones transform some hair to a coarse pigmented variety called "terminal." The appearance of terminal hair in the pubic and axillary (under the arm) regions is caused by male hormones that are produced in puberty. For some women, terminal hair begins to replace vellus hair on the face.

When they compare their facial hair at age 40 with what it was at age 20, many women note subtle increases that they may deem abnormal or cosmetically disturbing. These increases may be bothersome, but they're generally part of the normal skin changes associated with aging, and aren't connected with an increase in male hormone levels.

At menopause, the ratio of male hormones -- androgens -- to estrogen may change, and this can produce mild increases in facial hair.

Finally, if a woman's mother or father has a good amount of facial hair, chances are that she will, too. Heredity dictates how thickly hair follicles are distributed through the skin, and this is fixed at birth. Certain ethnic groups are more likely to develop facial hair than others, so heavy facial hair is quite normal in some families.

Testosterone, if your talking about body hair. If your talking about hair on your head, massaging the scalp can help but nothing will help significantly. I know because I used to have long hair and found nada.

My hair didn't grow any more than about 3/4" a month, at the back. On my sides and near the front about 1/2" a month. Usually it is between 1/2" to 1" full inch from my reading.

My hair seems to grow very quickly, and my hairdresser thinks it might be from all the protein I eat. What do you guys think??

I have noticed that when I cut down on protein, my hair gets brittle.

My hair seems to grow pretty fast also. I don't have any idea as to why but the protien may be a good point. I know that mine seems to grow it's fastest during the summer. I don't know what that has to do with it but that's how it is with me.

My hair has always grown fast... like 1.5-2 inches for every 5-6 week time frame.

A good multi-vitamin, like prenatal vitamins, will make your hair healthier but not grow faster.

Nada means nothing. Other than hormones, the only thing I know of is to make sure you are massaging your scalp. Some people believe brushing the hair also helps, you know the 100 stroke thing. If it does, then it is again due to follicle stimulus, since hair above the follicle is dead.

That is wicked, wicked fast. I would have been jealous years ago, it takes about 5 years for most people I know to go from short hair, to waist line, if trimming every so often to avoid split ends.
