If you register your domain and host your site in a place like Panama NO ONE can EVER find out who owns them and they CANNOT be seized by US Feds.
The guy made some stupid mistakes and they caught him. One was using his real name to ask technical questions about the site. He also used the same username for everything so they linked it all together.
