Thread: Are you shallow?

I once dated a girl because she was hot as hell But that was all she had going for her and i could date her for a long time i think i dated her for about a month before i had enough. I learned that looks are not everything. Done't get me wong my wife is very hot but she has the personality and sense of humor to go along with it.

i did date a guy because he was simply gorgeous...once his mouth opened he turned into an ugly person...that was over quick

emotional and intellectual bonds last longer...however if the physical connection isnt there it wont last for me either...

now if he has a nice ass thats a different story just joking

This is funny. I have dated hot girls years ago with bodies to die for! But the biggest airheads you've ever seen. Good for a couple rolls in the hay, but that is about all!

Guys! If there was anything I wish I could teach younger guys is this: DO NOT PASS UP AN OPPORTUNITY TO DATE A NICE "AVERAGE LOOKING" WOMAN!

If I could go back 20 years and follow this advice for myself I would have been so much happier and had a much much more fun and rewarding time in my earlier years. There are so so so many totally kind and inner beautiful woman who are dieing to be "good" to a deserving man that is descent and respecting of them. You have no idea how committed these women can be to making things work and having fun co-adventurers together and meaningful relationships. Looks only last so long and frankly some of the more "plain" women often times just keep getting better and better over the years or are late bloomers.

YES. Everything was fine as long she kept her mouth shut. Soon as she began to speak, it was instant headache for me. I couldn't deal with her dumbness so it had to end.

I agree with J'Bo here....I have to be physically attracted to someone but after that it's everything else that matters.

If she isn't attractive...well I simply wouldn't be interested....it may sound shallow but I need to have a physical attraction in order to have all the rest??? Make sense

I agree with you FF ... but let me ask you, do you think you'll begin telling your future wife, who was a hottie when you met her, that as she is aging and gaining weight, that she looks better and better? When she askes, do I look as good as ????? (fill in with any women she askes about), do you respond, "oh of course dear!"

well i dont know about some women but i am like wine and get better with age....plan to as the years go by well into my 50's

Probally taste better too

I had the same situation once! Learned my lesson about that. Some people use their looks as an excuse to be major pains in the ass. They think you won't dump them because they're hot. Wrongo!

In my case, she was just dumb and incredibly, incredibly self-centered. Nice enough girl I guess, but too self involved for my taste. And dumb. Dumb as a box of hair.

I dated one woman I did not know well - model type. We had dinner and were out for drinks and where having a pleasant conversation then and all of a sudden for no apparent reason she just "flipped out" . It was like somone turned on the lunatic switch. She stood up and started screaming "you bastard don't you ever touch me again". I just stood there dumbfounded and got a drink in the face. Then just as suddenly she sat back down and got all quiet and apolegetic and pensive. I told her I was ready to leave and she better call a cab for herself. As I left she followed me out and demanded I stay. I was in no mood to stay with her so I took her directly home without saying a word. As we arrived I said "here is where all crazy people get out". She refused to leave the car and when I insisted she slammed the door and said "thanks for the compliment see you again next week". I said "not if I see you first" and burned rubber out of there. I later found out that she was whacked out from an old rock and roll boy friend who abused her and got her brain all fried out on heavy drugs. Total pity since she was dynamite to look at. I also later found out she was a nympho too since she tried to do "stuff" to me on another occasion when I ran into her by accident at another social situation and I would not acknowledge her.

Moral of the story - the ultra good looking "10's" often times have emotional baggage and get exposed to a lot more than your average run of the mill "good looking" "8"-"9" woman...

I generally get to know someone a little bit before I ask them out... so most are average in looks I guess. So I don't consider myself shallow.

NT...if she asks me I will tell her the truth as nicely as possible...I'm an honest guy. Now let me say if I have something less than "ideal" to say in return as a response I am ALWAYS caring and sensitive and make it a point to tell her the many things I admire about her. At least in this situation she will know that there are many things that I am attracted too and not just what she's asking about.

I think everyone is a little bit shallow. Most people are first attracted to someone by thier looks, after that it comes down to if there is anything between the ears (for me at least).

But I know I am a little shallow because I have not dated nice girls just because they were not attractive to me phyisically. It may make me sound like an asshole but I have a lot of friends that I can have a conversation with. If I am dating someone I want them to look good, not perfect just good.

I would like to say everyone, what the hell is wrong with wanting to date (dating=porking) someone because they are hot. Why is that shallow? It is a form of attraction, just like being attracted to someone's character. A person's looks are the first thing that you see whenever you look at them, of course it is important, and if someone says that it isn't then they are lying. I don't understand why this is considered shallow or not as noble the alternative. Does it make me a better person if I date some whale of a bitch b/c she is nice on the inside?? This whole concept is ridiculous, of course there are other important factors to have a successful relationship, but there is nothing wrong with wanting to be with a beautiful woman. Looks are extremely important to me b/c I spend so much of my time dedicated to my body and perfecting it, I have to be with a girl that cares about hers a great deal also, that is me. Call me what you want but beautifully shaped woman make me happy so that is what I am going to go after.

A good relationship absolutely requires a woman to be my best friend, if there is no connection and respect going on, then it wont ever be serious for me.
