Yes
No

Bush wants more money for Iraq. People are pissed. In a poll by ABC and the Washington Reporter 53% are against it 47% for it. The fact is that the 60+ Billion he wants is less than 1% of what the government spends per year. So 60 Billion is a lot to you, but for the U.S. nill.

We should spend the money....we started this thing now we have to finish it. As Bill Maur said "it's our rape baby, now we have to pay for it".
Now whether or not we should have gotten involved this way in the first place in another story...
you can't put a price tag on freedom.

very easily said by a person sitting safely in his house who has never seen combat. the more money the US spends in Iraq the longer we will be there...Originally Posted by naturalguy

It's not about freedom.
As for spending, wait until the all of the "reconstruction" and corporate contracts start - if - the Americans end up with the Shiite government they want in power.

The Young Men Fighting This War
Published: June 22, 2005
To the Editor:
Re "Someone Else's Child," by Bob Herbert (column, June 20):
As the mother of a young man who walked away from a college scholarship in the fall of 2001 to join the Marines, I fully agree with Bob Herbert. To Congress, the administration and all those who voted for President Bush, I ask, Did you vote for the war only if it meant that you didn't have to spill your own children's blood?
My marine son is permanently disabled from a roadside bomb blast while on patrol in one of those infamous unarmored Humvees. More than 200 men in his 1,000-man battalion were either injured or killed during their second Iraq deployment.
His unit is scheduled for a third tour later this summer.
My son is a better man and human being for making a commitment to his country after we were attacked.
It's not the military that parents need to be worried about. It's the misuse of the military by the current administration that should frighten us all.

Imagine that. . . we're supposed to replace every goat and pig in each Iraqi village to stabilize Iraq's economy and encourage them not to shoot at us, but we can't pay for a canteen for our own soldiers.

I'll stay in mexico and not worry about it.
All I will say is... if we need to cut back on spending, there are MANY places I think we could start cutting back, both on spending and on gov involvement, before cutting back in Iraq.

Bush is an idiot... But I voted for him AGAIN so I guess I've done some pretty stupid crap too! We should have kept our slong in our pants on this one fellas... I'm looking forward to a new president which God help us will actually help us. However we've started a mess and need to help clean it up. I voted no because this should have never taken place but at this point we're committed...
May the Lord Jesus Christ bless those who bless me as I gladly accept their blessings, and curse those who curse me all the while protecting me for any evils. In Christ name, amen...
