Nicotine is not bad for you!

A new study shows nicotine as not being unhealthy. When you smoke cigarettes, you get addicted and die. The nicotine just gets you addicted. Clinically nicotine by itself is not harmful. It's the other 100 and some chemicals in the cigarettes that kill you. Obviously nicotines role has been exaggerated.

I think the smoke you are inhaling has something to do with it being bad for you too.

That is probably the stance the blood sucking lawyers for rjr take too. Again, this is just another so called "study" by another so called group of "experts".

If it weren't for nicotine, people wouldn't smoke tobacco. Why? Because of the more than 4,000 chemicals in tobacco smoke, nicotine is the primary one that acts on the brain, altering people's moods, appetites, and alertness in ways they find pleasant and beneficial. As the noted tobacco researcher M.A.H. Russell once wrote, "There is little doubt that if it were not for the nicotine in tobacco smoke, people would be little more inclined to smoke than they are to blow bubbles or to light sparklers."*

Unfortunately, as is widely known, nicotine has a dark side: It is highly addictive. Once smokers become hooked on it, they must get their fix of it regularly, sometimes several dozen times a day. Cigarette smoke contains 43 known carcinogens, which means that long-term smoking can amount to a death sentence. In the U.S. alone, 420,000 Americans die every year from tobacco-related illnesses.

Breaking nicotine addiction is not easy. Each year, nearly 35 million people make a concerted effort to quit smoking. Sadly, less than 7 percent succeed in abstaining for more than a year; most start smoking again within days.

    So???

I'm not arguing with the info you just cut and pasted(which btw...give credit where credit is due. ) But to say nicotine is not bad for you is splitting hairs mighty fine. That is like saying drug dealers are not bad...it's the drugs that kill the people. lol

It is the same company putting the "harmless nicotine" in the cig that is putting all the cancer causing agents in the cig. And to get folks hooked on it at that. So to say the nic is harmless is hogwash. Again, 100% with the info you posted.

Put it this way. If you injected pure nicotine into your bloodstream it would never kill you. It would only make you addicted to doing it over and over again.

Also when you smoke the tip of the cigarette is hot enough to melt airborn heavy metals. Seems weird to think that would even be a concern, but its been published, so who knows.

Nicotine is quite poisonous on its own if you were to just consume it alone. If you injected it into your veins it would kill you quite nicely.

Funny that people don't realize that if you actually ATE a cigarette it would make you quite sick. Two cigarettes taken into the stomach will kill most people. However people think nothing about smoking 20 of them a day.
