I´m a student at industrial design engineering faculty from the technical university in delft.
Now I have this crazy assignment to design a floor polisher for bodybuilders. Every bodybuilder should love it to polish his/her floor with it![]()
First I need some pics from bodybuilders with their home, car, furniture, kitchen, and so on.
It would be great if you could help me with pictures or ideas.

ok, I need some pictures so I get an idea what kind of style bodybuilders have. I can find lots of pictures with bodybuilders, but I would like to know which style of products they buy. Have they got a rover mini or an toyota jeep for a car, how do they furnish and decorate their homes. Stuff like that. What kind off taste do they have?

Being a bodybuilder does not really make you any different than any other type of person, except you spend a great deal of time focusing on training, your diet, etc. and of course the average bodybuilder is much more disciplined than the average joe.
yes, I guessed that too. unluckily I need some clicheè bodybuilder for this assignment. And maybe there are still some trends with bodybuilders. I was a pro track athlete and most off them had oakley sunglasses, the newest gadgets like dvd- man, mp3 player, laptops, dig videocameras and stuff like that. the cars were sporty and fast.

how about the pic of fs with his spandex red fire pants on![]()
So why don't you do a poll, rather than ask for pictures which makes you look like a weirdo.Originally posted by monique

Also, do you think calling someone a "cliche' bodfbuilder" will entice them to help you?
Monique,
BB are normal everyday people like Prince said. They come in all shapes and sizes, colors and appearances. It is impossible to do what you're doing. The only thing you can do is take examples from everyday people who BB, they really don't stand out.
Ya, people who BB wear shorts, tee shirts, have cd/mp3 players, wear sneakers, drive cars, eat healthy.....its impossible.....
Unless of course you know a pro BB who is so juiced up on roids, and makes his living BB, then maybe you can find some things that are cliche.....he drives superfast cars (many ifbb pros do, i guess thats a way to "burn" more of their test), has a cabinet full of steroids, and listens to nothing but speed/death metal when working out.
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.

TP what the hell is wrong with you?
i dont see anything wrong with what she asked.
why are you attacking her?
simply stop reading into things and figure out what she meant.
she needs some pics for her project...whats wrong with that?
and i agree that most people have a particular "style" and sometimes it is associated with the sport that they are involved in.

oh god here we go now.
if someone doesnt know much about bodybuliders then YES they are going to think that they are those HUGE monsters everyone sees in magazines and YES they do have certain look to them.
Lets be a little more patient with people here![]()
This makes sense to you? A floor polisher specifically designed for bodybuilders?Originally posted by monique

Lets assume for teh sake of argument that it somehow makes sense.
Pictures OF BODYBUILDERS in their cars, with furniture, etc will help her in this endeavor?Originally posted by monique

Forgive me for being cynical.
I'm not giving her a hard time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm merely stating, BB's AREN"T only those freaky mass monsters that compete in the Olympia, which she may think! Those are the exception, which is exactly why she has a difficult task!
Relax J'Bo, im just trying to help her in that there is no "typical" BB material objects or likes/dislikes. BB's are EVERYDAY people.

no i dont have problems with reading thank you TP. i know that you werent talking to me. however what a nice welcome you gave her.
i think that there was a better way to let her know that bodybuilders arent only the ones in the mags but look like us too. although it is safe to assume that she is looking/talking about the mag. guys.
does disciplined also mean you keep your house orderly and clean?

damn i tried but that comment is off the hook

Ok, I do understand it is strange
first: I do not think you are some kind of stereotype persons. I have been in to many weightrooms and fitnessschools for that. It is not that I do not know anything about bodybuilding. I ve done the squats, benchpress, Lats, step ups and abs, i used to train 9 times a week, 3 times a week weights, did competitions all over the world, and had to watch my diet too.
It is just that my teachers wants us to put two contrasting things (so they think) together. other assignments were a gettoblaster for a monk and a poopscooper for a pittbull owner. We have to exaggerate the contrast even more. so I have to put in a very clichéd image off a bodybuilder.
the first part off the assignment is making a collage wich shows a bodybuilder and the products he surrounds himself with. the gym is in there, the clothes and the supplements will be in there too.
It would also be a great help if I also have a car , furniture and a kitchen or so.
maybe If you don`t think of yourself as cliché, and I think you do`nt . maybe you could tell me what you would think a cliché bodybuilder would have?
If you train, diet and done Competitions all over the World (how old are you anyway) then why are you asking us for pics and what the cliché bodybuilder is?![]()

I think it's a REALLY BAD IDEA to continue to portray the cliché bodybuilder. I think your teacher is a closed-minded idiot for even thinking of contrasting BB and a floor polishing machine, WTF??? We clean our floors just like everyone else does.

I´m sorry, somehow this conversation has gotten a bit too unfriendly, the assignment is not meant to be serious and I hoped you could see some humour in it too. actually I posted the same message in the open chat forum and got some fun and actually usefull ideas there.
Oh, I´m 27, and I didn't do bodybuilding, I did polevaulting
Got some pretty usefull things here too actually
i see the "weirdness" of monk with a stereo but i'm still missing the humor of a bodybuilder with a floor cleaner?
i mean we don't picture monks rocking out to loud music. got it.
but what is ironic about a bodybuilder cleaning their house?

I guess my teachers think they let their wifes clean the house. I also guess my teachers didn`t think there are women bodybuilders either.
wow - your teachers have a shockingly narrow view.
is there any chance you can alter your assignment and enlighten them about some of the women bodybuilders out there who are medical doctors, moms, wives AND competitive bodybuilders?
or profile a male bodybuilder who does the grocery shopping and changes as many diapers as his wife? something like that?
why participate in their silly narrow inaccurate view?

Yes, It would be a silly narrow inaccurate view. The thing is, all these doctorors, mums, wifes, and grocery shopping men allready do polish the floor. They don't need a special floorpolisher. So I wouldn't have anything to design anymore. My teachers will not be satisfied with that. Or is there anything I could improve about your floor polisher?
is this thread some kind of joke?![]()
