Melt the fat with an injection

    Inject and the fats gone!

A plastic surgeon in New York City manipulating the enzyme collagenase in an effort to force it to break down scar tissue found that while the enzyme isn't really suited for such purposes, it is a great way of liquefying fat in lab animals. "We looked a couple weeks after administration of the medication," Zachary Gerut, the plastic surgeon who conducted the research told ABC News. "The adhesions were still there, but all the fat was gone from inside the belly." A miraculous discovery, particularly for a plastic surgeon for whom chemical liposuction had been a far-fetched, but potentially quite lucrative dream. Gerut, likely well aware that more than 800,000 people have surgery to remove fat each year in the United States, has already requested and received approval from the FDA to test collagenase's fat-liquefying powers in humans.
