Anyone feel obsessed w/ BB?

BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS

Obviously we BB's are a little crazy about how obsessed we are with BB, some more than others.

But does anyone ever feel overwhelmed by it? In other words, sometimes i feel so overwhelmed by everything involved. For example, after i eat a meal, i'm already worrying about what time is it gonna be 2 hrs later when i have to eat again, and what i am gonna eat etc. etc.

I worry about getting enough sleep (is it enough), what i'm gonna eat before i go to the gym (what food, but not too much so i dont feel too full, but not too little so i dont feel hungry in the middle of the workout) I find sometimes while i'm in class i'm trying to pick out what exercises i'm gonna do for the upcoming workout. The list goes on and on..............

Does anyone feel this? or am i just too obsessed with BB.

I think i may just be obsessive compulsive, who knows. It used to be so easy when i only knew about lifting. Training hard and that's it.

Then, using one example (there are a million), diet came in. But not just eating, its eating enough. Then eating enough wasnt good enough, its eating the right food. Then it includes not eating certain shit, then at what time....it doesnt stop.

oh well, i guess its better than being addicted to crack

that is why you have to have other outlets in your life besides BB, ya feel me. It can't be the only thing. Like for me I have my music that I put almost as much energy into, writing and hearing and shit like that, that is a huge outlet for me to channel energy through, especially like right now when my training is not at it peak to say the least. you have gotta have other outlets. Having rough sex with a stallion of a chick always puts your mind at ease though man, right.

Flex, I used to be the same way. When I was competing, everything revolved around BBing. My work schedule revolved around my training...not the other way around. Like gr8 said, you gotta have other interests. There has to be balance in your life. Because as you get older, how big you got ain't gonna amount to crap. There needs to be balance between training/work/family/friends/spiritual/etc. It is all those things that make you whole. If you focus on just one or two things, no matter which ones they are, you leave yourself open for a massive disaster down the road. Life has a funny way of bringing things into persepective sometimes. When you put all of your time and energy into one thing, and that thing comes crashing down or you no longer have it in your life, you are left standing there looking for a direction to turn. I have found myself in this situation a couple of times and I do not recommend it. It's all about balance Flex.

I think the bottom line is we want the most return for the effort we give in the gym. That's why we obsess over things like diet/rest/supps/etc.

At 51, I wish I had the info available to me at 16 that I have now.

Another thing I've learned is we need a goal. Something to reach for and acheive and then back off of for awhile. Like baseball, football, hockey players bust ass for 6-8 months and then they have the "off" season. Or, a pro bb has an event or competition and then can relax for awhile. Give the body a rest.

IOW, we just can't keep going and going and going. There needs to be a point where we just back off and enjoy life.

And then hit it hard again.

I love the sound of clanging iron in the morning. It sounds like victory.

great post BO and dead on my man . I know that it seems like being big is the most important thing ta times, but take a step back and look at yourself once in a while. You don't want to be a meathead whose time and efforts all go to working out (not you Flex, just talkin) For me it is a step in completing the whole package, ya know. I put just as much emphasis on being an educated human as I do putting on size. I know a guy that bodybuilds and has got lots of size to him, he definately is much much bigger than your average 22 yr old. he is about 245 shred and hs been up to 270 before, but he is dumb as a post. He actually told me once that if he didn't have a family to support he would live out of a van and spend every penny he earns on GH and the anabolics. He has already spent a small fortune on the drugs and has been runnign shit for about 3 years now with no break, so basically he is a meathead and I have a hard time repsecting him even though he has the look that I go for in the gym, the freakish look. The point is that I can totally relate to you, the only thing that I feel I have total control of in my life is my BB. It defines who I am, and that has been taken away from me at the moment, so it has forced me to take a step back and reflect. I have been readin alot more and concertrating on my school work which is something that is much more important than training in the long run. just try and put things in perspective. remember no matter how big you are, if you don't have that cash flow then you won't be pulling the 9s and 10s later on. The size of the wallet is more important to them than your arm size or squat best. Keep that in perspective. Sorry for rambling

thanks guys, i really hear where you're coming from.

its just that i'm tryin to get as much as i can out of BB by doing everything right (eating enough, eating right, eating on schedule........sooooooooo many other things), and sometimes i feel overwhelmed for say "not eating for 4 hours". i think to myself, fuck, i gotta eat.....you know? it alwasy seems like there is something i could be doing...........

i take this shit very seroiusly, probably too seriously. i think thats my problem....

think about it like this though, what young student doesn't have those fears? it is completely normal to think and worry about that stuff, in fact isn't it a good thing that you are worrying about them. I don't know what I specifically want to do either. I am completely stressed out of my mind, just thank god that you do have your training to rely on and escape into when things get rough! You will be fine bro. You are intelligent and obviously have the capacity to be dedicated to something, your BB proves that. Take those principles that helped you succedd in BB and apply them to your real life!

i was in the same boat before i got married, but i wouldnt change what i have now for the world. although my wife is sorta pushing back into the competing thing again. it does consume every bit of energy into doing a show, which takes time away from family and friends, but that the dedication part of it that i liked as well.
