You may not want to hear from a guy, but I've done this both ways, at home and through a salon, and I'd totally recommend getting it done by a pro...costs about $20 but the final product means you're going to get the colour and style you want.

Yep, I always go to a salon to get mine done. I'm way too picky about my hair to dare doing it myself, don't wanna mess it up
It can be pretty expensive though, but to me it's worth it!

Go to a salon, the at home stuff is the worst and never ends up looking good. For a guy it is so much cheaper for you to go to a pro then say any of the ladies cause you can do jut the tips or some of your hair where as we most likely have tons of hair and long hair so it costst us an arm and a leg.

If you have light hair already, you can get away with at home kits. (I have doen this on an ex and it came out great).

However, if you have med or dark hair definitly go to a salon. Otherwise you will end up with brassy orange highlights

I have mine done at home all the time by someone who is used to doing it and it looks fine. Just make sure that they know what they are doing, a cap ahould work fine for you depending in the length of your hair.

wait a few years and the highlights will just start growing in naturally....though your color choices are kinda just in the gray or white range....
