FUQ the Air Force. Be a man, be a Marine!
k one hand i'm going to this one school, but unfortunatly i messed up on some mid terms and i'm failing some classes. I've also taken some other classes and haven't done bad. Those classes are going to mess up on my chances to transfer to a University ...possibly
I have an alternative though; i can go to another school another city over(instead of the school in the other city over lol) and start over again and probably have a better chance on transfering , but I kinda wanted to do the r.o.t.c. for the airforce at the school so i don't know what to chose, and at my school i have the wrestling team, and some other things i'm engaged with
i don't know what to chose![]()

I think your better off in the army man. I mean being a pilot in the air force is kind of hard. The armed forces are really bad about putting you in a job where you don't want to be. It's like you on into the marines for Radology so they put you in infantry carrying the radio pack. Be really carefull what you choose and how you choose it. To them your in when you in no matter what you do, but the army will where you want if you demand it before you sign up.

If the school you are at has the ROTC you are interested in, I wouldn't make any decisions about going somewhere else until you see if there are any ways you can band-aid your grades or GPA from the classes you messed up this semester.
See if you can talk to a couple of those teachers about either taking an "Incomplete" and working out some way for you to improve your grades - or check out the school's catalog to see if you get to either erase the bad grades by taking some classes over or at least get them averaged - that might help when you are ready to transfer.
If these are general ed. courses and you don't take them again, the University would probably make you take them over there.

My cousin is leaving to be an Airborn Ranger soon. I have pondered jioning the military several times, but I have to much in my life right now. I'll tell you this though, I'd rather be in the infantry for a few years then go to school again.

I'm ex Army Airborne infantry myself but have many friends who went Air force and learned something and have come to get great jobs because of it. Me? I learned how to shoot you in the head from a thousand yards away or lay a mortar round in your lap. I would have to say go Air force unless you finish college first then become an officer in any of the other military branches. Just my $3.19 cents...

The Airforce is the way to go, you get better food, shelter and training. I was in the Navy Pearl Harbor for 4 yrs and Hickam AFB was right next to us. I used to rent a room over there because they were much nicer than on the Navy base, their exchange was nicer too. There are more civilian jobs out of the Airforce definitely, not just Pilots, but mechanics, communications, air traffic control, etc. All high paying, too.

My Program Manager went to the Air Force Academy and then into the Air Force. When he retired he went to work for the State Dept. in the Pentagon and now he works here at NASA. He'd agree with what you guys are saying that the Air Force is the way to go... better pay, benefits, jobs, etc.

sounds good.and now he works here at NASA
Personally that sounds like the way to go to me but I guess you want to have a career outside of the armed forces someday. Ground poundering sounds like the shit and a half to me.Me? I learned how to shoot you in the head from a thousand yards away or lay a mortar round in your lap.

OK Here is my two cents. If you are going to join then go Air Force...but definitely go in as an officer. I am currently in the AF and plan on retiring. It is true that Air Force needs come first, so it is possible that they can put you any where they need. But I am pretty sure the Army runs it the same way. Very few officer jobs are guaranteed (i.e. Doctors, Nurses, and Lawyers). I have been station at Pope AFB which is right next to Ft Bragg in NC. And I can tell you that our facilities were much nicer. And the few other Army bases I have been to have been the same. Matter of fact the Army MP's used to come and BS with our SF's (that's and MP in the Air Force) and they would all swear that they wish they had joined the Air Force instead. Now, we are all here to serve our country, and each service has its place you just need to decide what you are willing to put up with.

If Alboob see's this post he would be best so far to tell about Air force career as if anyone on the boards here knows he recently retired from the Air force. He shouldn't be hard to miss. Just look for a really fat guy in his avatar when he posts. You get fat when you retire.

I've been debating on joining the Airforce alot recently.....but I'm still not sure. I would be applying to the OTC program. Any tips, deep thoughts etc..... 27, female, Background is IT and I would prefer to stay in that line of work!

Would depend on where you wold get stationed, but usualy the airmen and NCO's do the maintenance work on the systems.
The O's are the shift leaders in general.
Have you talked with a recruiter yet?
I was Air Force, a cop. (SP, now called SF ((Security Forces))
