I also have a studio in my apartment. I do some production when time permits. I work 9 to 5 so when time permits I am working on music. Most of the time I DJ though. I am working on getting a gig on the beach. I spin Tech House.
I played professionally for 11 years, but gave it up for a more stable family life. I still get to use my creative juices being a designer/goldsmith. I play drums and was the lead singer.....no real recording other than with background tracks. You can still hear some of my recordings on the local station now and again(i have friends over there).

Dj djs ...
a gig on the beach ... very cool! Come to Alberta and you could do a few ski hills during the cool winter months.
What kind of studio do you have in your apartment DJ?
Wanted to do the band thing, but the music I listen to is so obscure it would be somewhat of a sacrafice to try for, and everything kept falling through.

Vanity/NT.....I use Acid, Sound Forge, Fruity Loops, Rebirth, Reason, Cakewalk, Cubase, etc. I have alot of audio programs. My old roomate used to have an entire set up at our old house. I recommend Reason 2.5. It is out of control. It is a full blown studio on your computer. Does it get any better than that?? Probably the real thing but why spend all the money when you can save some bucks and produce the same quality???
Other than that I have my tables set up against my Window over looking the beach so everytime I spin, I open the blinds and enjoy the view.
I play guitar and bass. Also, a little trombone and piano. I planned on going to Berkely College Of Music, but was always afraid of being poor for the rest of my life. I'm hoping to get something together in the near future. I really miss performing!!!
I play bass in our church band, i get to play most Sundays 3x in front of at least 400 people. Our band aint little either. We got a brass section 2 keyboards, lead, rythem and accoustic guitars, percussion.....
We recorded a live cd (11 tracks) about 8 weeks ago and its due to be released this Sunday Da Riss is on cd never thought i'd see the day....

if you keep working out, soon you'll be able to play with your shirt off. You'll have the church ladies swooning.

I never played on a full set (well), it was regular band stuff. I knew how to read notes, so I'd either play a big bass, or whatever during school events. The one time in high school I tried a full drum kit with a single bass, I was horrid. It really is not easy like it looks

film scores are great.
I like a wide range of music going from one extreme to another.
Recently , I 've been fiddling around with Electro-acoustic kinda stuff.
Kinda like William Orbit? (Producer of Madonna's previous album, Ray of light)
I love sounds that emanate from a keyboard. I prefer Kurzweil's and Roland's.... kick ass! But on a lower end, Yamaha's PSR versions ($300 range) are great, too!
