The rap world has lost yet another one of its stars. Soulja Slim was shot down outside his mother's house in New Orleans on Wednesday.

Born James Tapp, Soulja Slim was one of Master P's rappers and recorded for the No Limit label in the 90s.

Slim made his debut through No Limit with 'Give It To 'Em Raw' in 1998 but moved to Koch for 'Years Later … A Few Months After' earlier this year.

Soulja Slim was shot as he was getting out of the car about to visit his mother. Witnesses say he was shot twice iin the face and five times in the chest and died at the scene.

The murder happened around 5.45pm on Wednesday.

Never heard of the guy, but then aain, I do not listen to rap. That's just wrong that some punk shot him in front of his mother's home.
Does anyone know why he got shot? Wrong place, wrong time or past caught up with him?

i have never heard of him either..i am not too deep into No Limit's rap label though...

Rappers and gangbangers don't get shot in the chest and face because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'd say his PRESENT caught up with him. That is sad to hear though.

It's a shame but he probably wronged somebody along the way.

He chose to live that life. He had all te money in the world to move somewhere safe and live a good llife, but those guys shooce to have an image like they are gangsta when they are not. They pack guns when they don't need to. There are people out there that live in horrible places hwere that i necessary but these clowns are rich and they don't have to suffer by living in the ghettoi. Instead they move out and try to glorify th at life which they don't even live and try to make it look cool. That is idiocy and like I say if you surround yourself with that shit and try to front liike you re a gangsta then you are gonna get popped. You guys don't know anything about these peole, I do. I kow how they live and they bring things like this on themselves. He chose to play with fire and I have no sympathy for him. He was a victim of his own consequence. He could've escpaed all of that.

this is a side note...and really had nothing to do with the issue...but GR i read about C-Bo in one of my Sociology books called "The Culture of Fear." first time i had ever heard of him..now i know what u meant

BO ... that's a pretty broad statement! Because one raps, that makes him a criminal or involved in illegal activites. I can understand you maybe generalizing about those that claim they are hardcore gangbangers, but to put rappers into that general statement is a bit too much.

Before being a gangbanger was 'in style', Fresh Price did ok for himself. I guess today if you make a rap without cursing and pretending that you're a bad ass gangbanger, you get labeled as soft, a pretty boy, a sellout. Heavy D and the boyz were great. There are pleny of rappers that have much to say and it doesn't involve ganbanging Before anyone gets on my, I'm not against the gangbang type rap. Just as I find in all music, for me, aggressive lyrics have a place in my world.
