Secret Service Probes Eminem 'Bush Threat'

The United States presidential bodyguard said today it was examining lyrics by rap star Eminem to see whether he had threatened George Bush.

The Secret Service confirmed it was probing lyrics by the controversial artist, who says in a song: “I’d rather see the president dead.”

The words to the song, We As Americans, are available on the internet and have not been released by the award-winning rap artist.

Eminem says in the song: “F*** money, I don’t rap for dead presidents. I’d rather see the president dead.”

The Secret Service, charged with protecting the president, said it was looking into the song’s lyrics.

A spokesman said: “We are aware of the lyric and are in the process of determining what action, if any, will be taken.”

A spokesman for Oscar and Grammy award winner Eminem told CNN the song was not ready for release.

“This was an unfinished song, either lost or stolen,” he said.

“There was no determination where, when, how or if it was going to be used.”

Eminem, from Detroit, came under fire recently after a tape was uncovered in which he condemned black women.

The star said the words were “foolishness”, and the result of a split with a black girlfriend.

Meanwhile, his track, Lose Yourself, has been nominated for song and record of the year at the 46th annual Grammy Awards, which will be presented in Los Angeles in February

That doesn't sound bad then from Eminems side.

the lyrics are in my sig. what a coincidence, I put it in there and a few days later you posted this thread. I have the full song, it is a pretty sicc track to say the least. It ain't the first time he has talked shit about the gov and it won't be the last. It is BS that people are even trippen about this. In the 50's, they wouldnt show Elvis below the hips. in teh 70's people were all over The Rolling Stones ("I wanna be with you tonite"....or whatever the song was), the Beatles (for saying they were bigger than Jesus). Then Ozzy supposedly put subliminals in his lyrics and someone died. Then N.W.A. said "Fuck hte Police". Ice T was a "cop killer". Marilyn Manson is just a freak.

In lyrics, people should have every right to say whatever they want. BUT, b/c of all the weird shit this world is coming to (abductions, school shootings, snipers, priest molesters, terrorist etc. etc. etc.), i guess they are just being cautious.

But i agree, Eminem is def. not going to harm the Pres. He just puts outrageous shit into his music because that is what sells, whether you like it or not. . i'm not taking anything away from his skill, but personally, i dont even like Eminem, so i dont buy his shit.

If you think they are after him because he has money, you are either incredibly nieve or just incredibly ignorant. Now as far as influentual is concerned...then yes. All the more reason to further look into what the song really says. As Flex said, with the world in the sad state of affairs that it is in, the last thing we need is somebody without a brain being influenced by some guy that talks out of his ass. Like Prince said, I would hate to see our tax dollars wasted on a POS like enemaman...I mean eminem, but anything slightly perceived as a threat has to be checked out. I'm all for freedom of speech, but people with the slightest amount of influence need to take it the most serious.

All that article says is that the Secret Service is "looking into it" translation... they know the partial song exists but beyond that that see no real threat but don't want to come right out and say that.

It's their job to look into EVERY threat against the U.S. President.

Same type of thing if you were to jokingly tell a flight attendant that you thought about bringing a bomb on the plane... they'd be obligated to look into the matter.

Maybe I need to listen to it again. Wasn't too impressed with this one.

I'm not really a fan of Eminem's music, but I do love how he seems to antagonize and irritate so many people. I think he's kinda nerdy, but can be funny sometimes. I don't know what this song is about, but if it's political, I'm definitely going to give it a listen.

I like Eminem too. But I don't think he's nerdy, probably kick my ass! But then again that's not saying too much!
